Photoking shipped gray market camera possibly stolen not reachable for returns Brooklyn New York
Photoking guaranteed a factory new digital camera, but shipped a gray market, possibly stolen item. I called Nikon; they say the camera serial number is a counterfeit (Nikon case number ND388047; 800-645-6689.)
This was a telephone order. Photoking guaranteed a factory warrantee with the camera. Camera came with no warrantee card or info, a zeroxed manual, and counterfeit CDs (according to the Nikon Corp personnel at the number above.)
Photoking is almost impossible to reach by phone. Usually get messages saying they are not available, or placed on hold indefinitely. The salesperson was reachable at extension 225 several times prior to placing the order. Now that extension never is available. The photoking company directory via telephone says no such salesperson exists.
Over three days I reached a person 3 times out of 15 attempts. Each time I got an excuse why the person or office responsible for a merchandise return authorization was not available. Each time they promised me a prompt call back. I was never called back.
My credit card company advised me today to hold on to the camera pending the dispute process. I have also contacted all applicable law enforcement organizations about Nikon Corporation's warning that this may be a stolen camera since Nikon has NO record of its serial number.
