Pitkin County Title, Inc giving away fraudulent checks Aspin Colorado
I received a check from Pitkin County Title, Inc. in the first part of March for 3,400.00. The check was special delivered and I had to sign for it. I know it came through the post office because I talked to the guy about our mail carrier that was out of work due to her son dying.
He delivered a manila envelope, postage on it was about 20.00 and the check was the only thing in the envelope. No explanation, no nothing. In the memo section of the check it had "cASH PAYMENT" and this is exactly how it was typed in the space. The check was drawn on Alpine Bank in Aspen, ck# 356580. Looked right enticing. Only thing is I know you do not get something for nothing, so I called Alpine Bank and of course the check was no good.
I faxed a copy of it and the envelope to "Lorrie" at the bank. I was told that they had quite a few of these, but some of them had been cashed, but not mine. That is one time my common sense kicked in, thank God. The web site says they are an Escrow Company and a Title and Abstract Companies.
On there site there are 4 or 5 comments from people that have received checks also and one like I, called the bank to find out it is a fraud.
