Plaisted Companies Incorporated Big ugly excavating mining operation that is ruining the earth Elk River Minnesota
Plaisted Companies Incorporated has a huge ugly mining operation that is destroying the beauty of the land. It is a huge gaping hole in the earth that looks like a giant garbage can.
I love the beautiful scenery that Minnesota has to offer. However, every time someone goest past the Plaisted mine it just looks awful.
I think the should plant trees around the mine as to hide the ugly scarring they have created. They are ripping off our natural beauty and they need to fix it.

Dear Rbro, Because of the unique geology of this region, there are several companies running mining operations in the area. Our facility is one of the smaller and least visible sites that cannot be seen from the roads -- it's already hidden. You may be thinking of one of our larger competitors. We make every effort to be as efficient as possible--minimizing our footprint and impact on the surrounding environment. We're proud to see our products used throughout the State of Minnesota to beautify the landscape with our decorative rock, stone and refined sand & gravel. This includes green spaces like golf courses and retaining walls that use local materials indigenous to our State; as well as roof-top gardens, rain gardens and specialty tree soils. We are particularly proud that we were recognized as the official supplier of specialty soil for the playing surface of the new Twins Stadium (Target Field). Plaisted Companies recycles crushed concrete, asphalt, pine bark, yard grass clipping waste, leaf waste and tree grindings. We re-use the concrete and asphalt for road base materials under driveways, streets, parking lots and cart paths. We will continue to support the use of recycled and green solutions wherever possible to preserve and enhance the unique beauty of our State and the region.
