I cant believe that you could be so cold. a person can write a poem in ten minutes some can take longer. some could only write about the sun. some can write about the way the mind works and that could take any length. as you have not written the submitted poem you have not right to say weither or not Alicia should get royalties. she is the one who wrote it not you. she is the one who would have sat maybe even crying as she wrote it and so involved with it that she dreamed about it when she slept. if she thinks she should get royalties then she is intitaled to try. Write one, when you feel that you want to tell another person something but can't. Then you send to a silly internet .com as they are willing to listen. dont patranise. Then you'll understand why even i believed

Did I just read, "I did not intend for thousands or readers to read them without a payment for my contributions"? Woman, do you know what real art is? Art is creating for the love of the labor, even if it means starving. Most artists spend years giving stuff out for free or for cheap, its how you get known. Heck, most the poets we know these days did not get paid much (if anything) for what they were doing at the time. How do people get to the point were they get paid well for their art? Either luck or stepping on other people to get to the top. The only way to keep art for yourself? Lock it in a vault and make people pay to see it/read it. Or, do the riskier thing and make your own 'zine like book. thats what I plan to do. I sent stuff to poetry.com and their publishing pals knowing darn well its a scam, but hey, what isnt? Now, I have never read from poetry.com that they would pay to publish, only people get money if they win a contest. Do people win contests? someimes, I know a woman whos daughter won. funny though, her daughter thought it was a scam from the beginning and just put the works out there for everyone to see. Just because...and she made a few grand. If you felt so strongly about keeping your work and getting money for it, go straight to a real publishing house, not some thing that appears on the internet, silly. Well, you live you learn, dont you?

I have read a few of the complaints on this website and others and apparently people don't understand what this company does. The Internation Library of Poetry is a VANITY PRESS publisher. That means, they print your work. You supply them with your work and pay for the printing, and they print the book for you. This process has been around for more than a century and is completely legal. That does not make this a scam. I hate it when people misuse the word scam because they don't understand the meaning. If you aren't sure about something try researching it. Don't buy a poetry book and then complain when you get it and realize you are not a famous world renoun poet. Use some common sense people. And don't let situations like this discourage you. If you think your stuff is good submit it to every publisher you can find. If someone honestly likes your work they would probably offer to cover the printing costs. Hope that this helps to dispell some of the misconceptions.
