I found it very odd when I received a letter and E-mail from Poerty.Com asking for my permission to print my poem "HOLY How Often Love Yearns" also that they were trying to sell me a book in which my poem was going to be printed. Oh and sell me another page for my Bio. They said they liked my style and etc. So I gave them my permission but did not buy anything. Even said I made the semi finals in their contest.
Then they wrote me and E-maied that I was chosen to be in their book "Who's Who in International Poerty" and to submit another poem and my Bio for their book and a chance to buy it at a discount. With two pages just for me. Then came a letter from Howard Ely, I was chosen as "Editor's Choice Award". They wanted me to give them permission to have my poem on their "3CD Set" also to buy my poem on a "Plaque."
So I started to research them. I E-mailed BBB in Md. they replied that they were a legal company. So Howard Ely E-mailed me about how time was running out, I need to submit my next poem and Bio. now. I tried to E-mail him but it just bounced back. So I went to the college library were I attend and looked in a Poets Market ref. book. I could not find them and it was a 2004 addition. So I called them cause I could not E-mail them. Boy the old song and dance from the phone receptionist saying Mr. Ely was to busy to talk to me. So I told her how I knew in my heart that they were POETRY.CON!
All she could say was "sorry you feel that way Mr. Lowe" and would not give me the name of the publisher. So I wrote Mr. Ely a letter asking who CS was and explained that if he wanted something from me, I wanted some thing from him. Like copyes of the books and the 3 CD set. Also who are they: Watermark Press, Circa Press or Owings Press. Who are you? When I came home from college I received a "Urgent Letter" from POETRY.CON/Internatonal Society of Poets.
They overnight expressed it also I was chosen to speak in Phil,Pa. to meet my fellow poets and read my poem at their gathering and could win $20,000.00. Also receive a "Silver Bowel" all I needed to do was send them $75.00 deposit out of $595.00 registration for the Convention. The next day at the college library I talked to the librarian about this. We got on ripoffreport.com and I was not surprised to find POETY.CON with 101 complants.
All I have to say is, everybody needs to report them to the BBB in Md.and other authorities. It has been weeks ago I sent Mr. Ely my letter but no reply yet. I found five times they have changed their name. All this cause I was helping my son to win this computer with 3 monitors. I feel bad for Professional poets and everyone else who has been raped by POETRY.CON

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business?
