Poetry.com , Howard Ely who ever it is that owns the company kept my poem. It is called Pride. I got any e-mail from Howard Ely today here is what it says Dear Sheila, Thank you for your submission to the Open Amateur Poetry Competition. Unfortunately, after careful review of your contest entry, I am sorry to inform you that your poem, Pride, was not chosen for publication and is no longer eligible for contest prizes. We understand that poetry is a form of artistic _expression and that it is not always understood by those who read it. Therefore, we are asking you to send us another example of your writing. All you have to do is click on the button below and follow the instructions. Here are a few tips our editors give when reviewing poetry: Establish a specific writing style (i.e., rhymed verse, blank verse, etc.) Establish a meter and follow it consistently throughout the poem (i.e., iambic pentameter) Use poetic elements (i.e., metaphor, simile, alliteration, assonance, consonance, etc.) Avoid using clichs Be original! Sheila, by submitting another poem you will continue to compete with other amateur poets like yourself. You will also be eligible to win one of the many cash or gift prizes available every year to talented writers. During the last twenty years, the International Library of Poetry and its affiliated companies have awarded over two million dollars to poets from all over the world. Our philosophy has always been that poetry is a form of _expression that is shared and enjoyed by many people of all skill levels. We believe that poetry should be part of our daily lives and shared by everyone, and so we hope you decide to share another piece of your writing with us soon. Sincerely, Howard Ely Managing Editor Did they get caught or did start to feel sorry for what they have done to millions of people?

Hi Sheila Maybe they just take the worst poems and delete them from their website to save them some embarrassment??? Just Kidding! Your poem is beautiful ;-) I too had submitted probably a dozen poems on poetry.com throughout the last couple of years, and all of them were written "on a whim" so to speak, and I hadn't written any of them down elsewhere. About 6 months or so ago I noticed that all them had just magically disappeared... I checked back again a couple times since then, and they are still gone; And my poems are forgotten. None of them, of course, were plagarized, and none of them contained profanity... Thinking that perhaps they just removed poems after a certain amount of time passes, I checked to see if that was the case. However, all the older poems I had remembered seeing before were still there.. Doesn't make much sense does it..

I got another letter stating that my poem was being published this time it was one of my other poems . I asked them to take my poems of their website and they did its been almost a month and I got another letter from them . How did they remeber my poem if it was taken off their website. And I told them I did want to have any of my poems published of entered in any of their contests. I think they are stealing peoples poetry.

I asked her about my poem that was missing and she said that it was either plagerized or had obscene or profanity langusge in it so it was taking off the web site. I know for a fact that it didn't. Here is my poem Pride I see an eagle in the sky with a tear in his eye as he is flying over everyone runs for cover they think they hurt our pride when lots of Americans died the eagle cried and everyone thanks god their alive They can't hurt my pride so let the eagle fly Our country will heal in time because we our united as one united we stand as one their country is undone as a citizen of the USA I thank god and pray as tragic as it seems our ciuntry has a scheme the enemy will pay for our tragic day Now you tell me does that have obscene language or profanity in it. I am positive that this is my own original work I wrote this in September 2001. I just never posted it until now. I think they stole my poem.

I just want them to get what the deserve. How can they take peoples hopes and dreams and crush them. Thank you to all the people that reported this scam. I was going to send them money but thank god I didn't yet. I would have felt even more stupid. I just want my poems back. I just feel so humiliated and used. I diffently want to know what happened to my poem that magicial disapeared off their website. they better not make any money off of it or I will be pissed.
