Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Joanne was very accommodating and professional at first however shortly after paying our deposit she became almost impossible to reach. She would not answer my calls and would call us back at the wrong number for the time of day she was calling and count it as her trying to reach us. Once confronted she said I was the most frustrating person she ever worked with and she does "90 weddings a year" and either I could fire her and lose my deposit or let her do her job stating she already had everything set up and ready for the event. This conversation occurred 3 months before my big day and I didn't feel I could start over that late nor did I have the money to do so; I figured I could deal with her being rude and unprofessional as long as I had a nice wedding. Over the following month things only got worse. I eventually tried to contact one of the vendors directly because I couldn't reach Joanne. Joanne had told me several times in written correspondence she had paid a non-refundable deposit to this particular vendor and yet I discovered that vendor wasn't available on my wedding date. Joanne's response was that she had just received a refund on the deposit from the vendor and would get that money back to me. I decided things seemed suspicious so I contacted the vendor again who stated she had never received any deposit or even a request for the date. I confronted Joanne and all she said was she had a right to change vendors. I accused her of fraud and she is now completely unreachable and still has over $3300 of my money and my wedding is less than 2 months away. I have had to hire an attorney and am suing Joanne for fraud while trying to put an entire wedding together in just 2 months from 3 hours away with over $3300 of my wedding budget tied up in her fraudulent activity; I may also turn this in for criminal investigation. She has had four claims against her via the BBB in the last few months and she is not a member of the BBB or Chamber of Commerce as she claims.

What happened after you hired a lawyer?

Hi ELW my name is Jeremy and I was wondering what happened after you hired the lawyer? A lawyer in the office I intern in as a paralegal had a very similar experience to yours and wants to sue Joanne or Port A Beach Weddings but isnt exactly sure what to do. He has tasked me with trying to find the best way to sue her and I was wondering if you had any valuable information that you or your lawyer could share with us that would aid us in doing so. My email is (((redacted))) if there is anything you can do to help us, we would greatly appreciate it. It sounds like Joanne has not only do this to you and my boss, but many other people as well, and we would really like to see her have to pay for it.

Thanks a bunch,

Jeremy McHenry
