Predicto Dishonest rebutal Internet
I found a solution, but first: The response by Predicto #1 employee sounds nice, but it is totally untruthful about the double opt-in policy. That whole paragraph below never happened to me and neither did it happen to the other posts I've read. This part is pure BULL:
Predicto employee#1: "Please note we use an industry best practice double opt-in to prevent inadvertent or fraudulent sign-ups. To enroll in our service, a prospective member must first submit their cell phone number on the PredictoMobile sign-up page which clearly explains our terms and conditions including the monthly price of the service and billing to the cell phone. We then send a text message to their cell phone which again discloses the essential membership terms. They then must correctly enter the PIN on our website or reply with a confirmation SMS message from their cell phone to activate the account."
I was ripped off for a total of $79.92. Checking my bill this month to see if Predicto had charged me again after texting "STOP" last month, I found that they had NOT charged me, BUT, I had three charges of $9.99 from other companies that I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR.
Now for a solution: I called AT&T, my provider and asked what could be done to stop this. I have to say I was overwhelmed with the professionalism and satisfaction I received from "Johan" at AT&T. He suggested I have them(AT&T) put a "purchase block" on my phone(s) so that I have to enter a PIN# to make any future purchases. This would not affect my iTunes purchases, just ones like I am complaining about. Then he went back and removed all the unauthorized charges for me. I could have done it by calling the companies myself, but thankfully didn't have to. I didn't expect this kind of assistance from AT&T, and truly appreciate it. I hope that anyone else having this problem can resolve it as easily as it was for me.
