I flew across the country to look at a car being sold by Prestige Auto Sales Inc.  All of the photos online looked pretty good.  When I arrived at the dealer, I noticed the paint was flaking off all over the car which was not visible in any of the online photos.  Serge came running out of his office and stood there while I inspected the car.

While the bad paint was not a dealbreaker, I was very disppointed.  Next we went for a test drive.  I found the A/C did not work and that was also not disclosed in the online listing for the car.  Serge was trying to make the sale and knew I was disappointed, so he offered to refund the $295 deposit hold I placed on the car prior to flying to PA.  But, he would refund it after I returned home and contacted him.

I went ahead and bought the car, since it is rare, and I still wanted it.  I notified Serge as soon as I got home and he said he would notify his boss about the refund.  A week later, nothing had happened.  I contacted his boss in Florida and he said that only Serge could fix the problem.  I called Serge again, and my calls only go to voicemail and he will not return messages.  The deposit had to be made with PayPal (this is where they scam you...)  I filed a dispute with PayPal, and since the payment was "related" to the purchase of a car, the buyer is not protected, even though the remaining balance of the car was paid with a cashier's check.

I love the car and am still glad I bought it, I am just disappointed that the seller and his boss will not hold true to their promise since they know they can get away with it.  The boss in Florida could not have been more disinterested in what was happening.  This is definitely not a company to do business with.  Stay far away...

Your statement, “the remaining balance of the car was paid with a cashier's check”, implies the deposit was applied to the purchase.
