I received a call the other day from a woman who invited me to an "informational meeting". She lured me to the meeting with the usual line about "10 offices opening in the area" - "lots of positions to be filled" blah, blah, blah...
I showed up a little late due to traffic. When I reached the door to the office I heard whoopin' & hollerin' inside. Was this a sporting event, I wondered? Once inside I took my seat. Weird vibes!! The whole presentation felt over orchestrated.
In the row behind me people were repeating and affirming the presenter's phrases with such over exuberance I wondered if I had stumbled into a Gospel Church Revival. At the conclusion everyone stood around and spoke in hushed tones. Half expecting to see snakes and people speaking in tounges... I slipped out.
The woman who invited me seemed to be the only person "allowed" to speak to me. She was VERY pushy. When I resisted she simply turned on her heel and walked away. PRIMERICA presented itself to me as a church (cult is more like it) of lost soul-less souls with glassy eyes and glazed looks. Very creepy!! Got the hell out, just in time.
All the way home the old proverb "what does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul" rand in my head. Anyone with one ounce of intelligence should head for the hills when approached by the folks at Primerica!!!
