Concern parent my 18 year attends bronx community college. He attended a job fair at campus. This was where it all starts. Primerica/citigroup was allowed to attend a scam at a jobfair they got his resume. He received a call on march 16,2006 for a interveiw it seem odd that it was at 7pm.

They tried very hard to brainwash him offering the world lots of money but he would need to bring them 200.00 moneyorder and 100names and numbers of family and friends. For a licence to become a representative that would be on saturday 2pm. I am a concern mother and looked into this company. It turn out to be a scam.

He did not go back on saturday so he received a call from mr. brandon grant very upset that he was a no show. My son said he is no longer interested. Mr. grant got very angy on the phone told him he will never make it in life, for giving this job up.

My son told him this is a scam so he hanged up the phone. Please dont fall for this.

All it takes is a few minutes to read through the rash of complains about Primerica to hear one of the common denominators of how when you say you aren't interested, the Primerica rep insults and berates you. My wife was a subject of one of these phone calls and we're in Las Vegas. Funny how whether you are talking to a rep in Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenis, Tuscon, Miami, Portland, Minneapolis, or any other city you hear the same banter over and over again about how you will never amount to anything and you'll never be successful and you'll never make money. Primerica reps can claim they have documentation of meetings or memos saying that their reps should use this practice (of which these memos wouldn't even exist unless they were doing it anyway) but I can assure you that the numbers prove that all these people saying the exact same thing, word for word, just doesn't happen by coincidence. Just because they tout a memo saying that their reps shouldn't say these things doesn't mean that it isn't encouraged somehow from the top down in sales meetings across the country. Think about it, how is it that reps from all over the country insult their potential recruits in exactly the same way? Pure chance? I think not.

Nelly, I do not represent or know of the person your son spoke with. But as a Primerica representative I want to apologize and reiterate that a response like that is not representative of our company. The fact that your son is going to college and went to a career fair means he's got a head on his shoulder and moving in the right direction. As a parent, (I have 2 children) I know how it would feel. I am an engineering graduate out of Columbia University and made a six figure income working for a telecom company (middle mangmnt) when I began building a part time career with Primerica. Being a sceptic, in general, I did my research with the right sources (Better business, State Ins Dept, Parent company website - at the time Travelers, etc.) just to make sure it was legit. Although I got licensed I didn't bring any client or recruits for 1.5 yrs as I checked it out..looking for the gotcha/scam. I did find it, though. It wasn't a scam...but the 'gotcha' was that it takes hard work to build. Having a job & making about $100k a year was demanding and trying to go out on appoints to build a business outside of work was hard work. What got me was that I enjoyed helping others and I was saw my own situation helped when I first became a client. It was a real good experience. Carreer-wise, I also saw freedom and opportunity. As a hispanic I did experience a glass ceiling and didn't feel in control of my future with my current employer. Researching, I found that most wealthy people are business owners/self employed/entrepeneurs. So naturally I felt $199 was not a risk at all. To make a long story short 7 years later I earned up to $36k part time..saved over $250k in liquid assets and was finally able to leave my job and do this full time. I have a lot of happy clients and a small team of 5 people. I would've suggested that you had talked to a Regional Vice President or whoever was managing Mr. Grant. The company actually has internal compliance meetings where they clearly state that this type of communication is unacceptable. I'd be surprised if Mr. Grant goes far without changing the way he talks to people. Usually, they don't.

Nelly...one of my clients had a very similar experience with a primerica rep. He met some primeridork at the behest of his sister. When my cleint told him he wasn't interested in their products or having all 15 of his employees become primeridorks too the primerica rep got extremely upset. He told my client, who has a net worth of over $3 million and owns the property is business is housed in, that he would end up being a greeter at WalMart in his old age because he wouldn't do business with primerica. Needless to say he threw the clown out on his ear and it has strained his relationship with his sister.
