Prodigy Moving tricks to charge the customer more Northridge California
Not an outrageous rip off, just going to cost you at least a hundred bucks extra...
They will stop during the driving time to 'check something that sounds loose in the furniture hold, thereby racking up more time for which they charge double the hourly rate.... So the 15 minute drive took 25 and they double that so basically $60 just to drive the truck.
The two man crew consists of a grunt man, who actually worked hard, and the 'driver/paperwork guy' who is not concerned with efficiency - they wanted to wrap everything, takes time and supplies! It only took 30 minutes to unload the 20-25 items I had moved but it took two hours to load them!
They also managed to break, in half, BOTH of my standing lamps, they said one had been previously broken - true, but it had been repaired. It was their carelessness in securing it that caused it to shatter! They moved the other lamp inside while I was not looking and it was carefully placed where it was least visible.
I did not see it was broken - in half also - until the next day.
I should of know better when the driver had to make a 10 point turn instead of a simple Y turn when he arrived!
