Protection One took over my old company, ASG earlier this year. At the time, I decided to upgrade my equipment and contacted Protection One. A new system was installed and I paid the intial fee of $189.00. I continued having my monthly fee automatically withdrawn from my account. The September payment was paid on September 6.
On September 20, 2016, I received a letter from the company dated September 14, 2016, stating that my "account has a past-due balance of $95.45."
I finally was able to talk to someone on September 21, 2016 from the Wichita office. I explained what happened and was told that I merely misunderstood the letter. Further, I owed only $38.08 in taxes. The lady I talked to said I should have been advised of this, however, I was not. I was told by the lady that they will halt all collection efforts until the end of the year.
I have no intention of paying the amount they state I owed as I feel I am being extorted by this company.
