Lori, To answer your question, I have only been active on this site for the past year or so. The only thing I can fault you on is being too honest! these are despicable slimy dirtbags you are dealing with here, and they never play fair. they play to win. That is exactly why I preach the things I preach. I know some of my actions are extreme, but unfortunately, that is what works. That is why the lawyers and wanna be lawyers on this site put me down and insult me all the time. It's ok though, they have nowhere near the track record I have! What works, and what is rigt are two totally different things, as you have found out. At least you know now to never speak to any debt collector on the phone, and never make a payment to one, right? You do know the only reason they got the judgement is because you made a payment that re-affirmed the debt, right? You tried to be honest. Never do that when dealing with lowlife. I hope things work out for you on this as good as possible. It may be possible to get that judgement vacated, but you will need a lawyer to do it.

The only thing I can think of as to why they'd go after the income tax is that possibly you two filed jointly? If he filed seperate, I don't see how they can touch it but maybe being married ties into it.

Went to court this morning. They actually sent an attorney this time. When I spoke with the attorney, he admited that they had no case, no grounds to go forward, due to the fact that I had a current payment arrangement, and I had met the terms that were set for my end. Imagine that! He actually went in and told the judge that I had a current payment arrangement, that I seemed to be meeting my end as agreed, and that although he was supposed to be there defending the plaintiffs position, he was at a loss as they seemed to have no position! He let the judge know that I had shown him paperwork (from HIS client) that he hadn't seen previously, and couldn't object to the judge granting my objection. The judge told me that they could file again if they chose, but that she was not going to penalize me when I upheld my agreement, and that if they filed again, I should show up in court, but that she was not going to let this go. Hmmm, she sounded like she didn't approve of the actions taken by this company, and I'm pretty sure that the local attorney they retained to take care of this for them left the court house with a tad bit of attitude towards them as well. (After all, how would you like to show up in court only to find out that you didn't even know what was going on, and the defendant showed you what the right hand was doing while the left hand wasn't watching??) All in all, it's been a good day, and for a change, the little guy came out on top. PS I wasn't the only one in court today dealing with this same firm. They didn't send representation for the other one (possible two), whom also walked out with motions in their favor. BTW, It's WEINBERG.... mispelled it in the last posting. Have a wonderful Holiday Season!! Blessings!
