i do not work in the customer service area but in the processing side. we were not notified that the apr was going up until after they quit sending out new applications on the lower end cards. all low end cards that providian kept are at 29.99. all other low end cards were or are currently being sold. our old ceo and his cronies didnt report the companies earnings correctly or the bankruptcy they had pending. then they cashed out their stocks for millions causing stock to fall to about 2 bucks a share. most of us have employee stock purchase as our retirement and lost it all. i have no faith in this company. they are selling their accounts and our souls to whoever will buy it. they have already fired/laid off hundreds and blamed it on 9/11 when in reality it is their shady practice. if you call and b***h hard enough you will get a different type card with no annual fee and a fixed rate. for new applicants be advised on any company you can request terms on an application such as no fees, lower apr, higher or fixed credit limit,lower late and overlimit fees, no balance transfer or cash advance fees, ANYTHING! If they really want you as a customer they will do this for you. I call on my family's cards every 3 months or so and get rates lowered all the time. Hope I have been of some help because I hate this company. If it werent for 3 kids to support I wouldnt work there.
