I purchased my puppy Chopper at a pet store (my first mistake),said to be a Victorian Bulldog, by breeder Steve L. Kruse. The litter was from Stonehenge Iron Eyes and Frostbite Freddy's Frosty (neither of which I can locate).
When we brought him home he seemed fine but within 2 days he had a very high fever, was throwing up and was barely moving. We took him to our vet and found that he had a very severe case of coccidiosis and pneumonia (from aspirating his vomit). He would have died had we not taken him to the vet when we did. We had to leave him for three days hooked up to IV's and heavily medicated. The pet store paid the vet bill (over $1500) but had no explanation as to why he was so infected as they had only had him for a few days and was supposedly checked before he got to the pet store.
He got over this but had continual diarrhea for months and couldnt tolerate any dog food. He still cant (he is 10 months old now)so we put him on a raw food diet and now his stomach is fine.
However about two months ago he became very aggressive and starting biting without warning all of the members of my family. We dont know where this came from and he doesnt growl or show signs of irritation he simply bites. We went to a dog behaviorist and have had to have him put on prozac. He is doing better but has a long road of behavioral training ahead of him. This has been a long expensive road to h*e for the love of our dog.
I dont know what kind of inbreeding this breeder does or if he just has a general lack of concern for animals but every time I see an animal complaint his name pops up. Someone needs to shut him down. Had my family not loved chopper so much and been patient he would have been put to sleep for his mauling of us. We literally have scars on our arms and legs from his attacks.
These poor animals will be put to sleep by someone unable to tolerate and seek help for this behavior, but not before Mr. Kruse has his money in his pocket. The pet store we bought the dog at is just as much to blame as they show no concern in picking their breeders or they would have done the research on this guy. After I bought my dog I also found out the pet store routinely drugs their animals to make them sleep and lets them die if they get sick so they will be able to return the carcass for a refund or exchange.
