Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I am not proud of this or what I had done while I worked for them, but anyone who has worked for Shafik and Judy, (if they still have a soul), will tell you this is true; ALL of it!!!

First of all, I was a "Manager" for Judy AND Shafik. I started at their "training" store with John. He is the best at training other on how to get people to spend money they don't need to. I was "trained" to get the car in and then offer a free inspection. This is nothing more than the chance to blow a smokescreen at you that is intended to make you think they are legitimate problems with your car and they have just rescued you from driving away with these horrible problems. USA auto is also part of the scheme. Oh, yes, Judy and Shafik own that too. It was at their training store that I was introduced to the doctrine of Shafik, (who is very much a part of the day to day operations at the stores). His creedo is simply, rip the customers face off. I should also mention that I was hired as a "manager" but had no formal training as a manager of an auto shop, but I had legitimately managed a tire shop.

All Shafik cared about was whether or not I could sell. I was put in the back to shadow their "managers" who, (some of which did actually possess ASE certs), but would blatently exaggerate non-issues and use vague language like "...I can't tell you ehrn it will break, but I can say that it definitely will break..." or "..it's starting to show signs of excessive wear/discoloration...". I was point blank told, in no uncertain terms, to sell people any and everything I could, regardless of their needs. I say again, I had NO FORMAL AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR TRAINING to this point, yet i was to sell as if I were a master ASE certified repairman. It is a sham. Nothing more than double talk and industry speak to take advantage of people who generally trust what you say because they think they are getting a deal. That's when the light bulb went off and I realized this was hoax.

I was sent to different stores to cover for other "managers" and the story was the same everywhere I went. It was a competition to see who could pull the biggest jobs. In fact, my pay was based on how much I could get in the door. Sounds normal, but not wehen I had to do it at the expense of anyone I could get. I was payed over $900 per week, CASH, (tax free remember). Here's how it works: Judy is the "legitimate" partner, (and Shafik's wife). Shafik can't "own" an automotive repair facility anymore but he can give his wife the money to open them so he can stay involved. But cash can't go into his hands so he needs a way to get the money back in his pocket. This is why they want credit so badly. They will always try to get you to pay on credit. Recap: Shafik can't touch auto repair shops. Marries an independant owner, (Judy Pham who legitimately used to own the Eastern store with her family), and gives her the cash to buy new ventures. Judy's new stores then rake in most of their day in credit which puts her husband, Shafik, back into the money through their account.

He claims to be the marketing manager. But I have video recorded Shafik speaking to vendors, IN THE STORES, discussing other stores as well. These people are clever. They will hire ASE certified mechanics and pay them through a payroll company, taking out taxes. BUT, their "managers, the rip off artists, are payed cash and lots of it, without any taxes coming out. When they gave me my own store, I payed everyone there in cash and never took out a dime in taxes. This is also how he would dispute any workers comp claims, unemployment claims and anytime they wanted to act as though someone never worked for there. They never filled out a W-2 and he never cut them a check; it was always cash.

I have witnessed and am guilty of it myself, where we charged for an oil change, but never changed the filter. It was usually for a reason such as not being able to get the filter lid off, (newer cars use a canister filter), or if it was an expensive newer cartridge filter and the oil change was sold as the speacial $9.99, (Shafik's favorite one), and the shop was going to take a big hit on the filter. We would simply change the oil. Another trick they pull is that all the oil they are putting in the cars is bulk. It's not a certain weight or type. Lowest price bulk, kept in large containers that are usually not marked. Just watch them. Doesn't matter what car they work on. If it's 3 oil changes lined up, they will put in oil from the same container into all 3 vehicles.

I have personally witnessed the mechanics intentionally not install a part that was paid for by the customer because it was too difficult to put in. Maybe if the mechanic had any formal training he could have done it. I have watched Judy, speak to the customers insurance company and Lie to them pretending to have an authorized body shop just to get the insurance sum. Then she has a guy who works out of his house come over and perform the "factory repair" right there in the back of the shop. No I am not kidding. I have witnessed her manager sell an elderly man over $3,200 in repairs to "save" his 1990's Cadillac that only needed some MINOR repairs.

Most of the shops have alcohol on premises and the mechanics will drink throughout the day. Also, there is no drug abuse policy or testing of any kind. I have personally witnessed rampant drug and alcohol abuse WHILE operating machinery and driving customers vehicles.  I have seen and shamefully been a part of that corrupt organization. There is so much more I could go on about but I think this is enough for now. Shafik has been barred from being invloved in the auto repair business for unethical behavior. He's also in trouble for some funny business involving a house. Something else I found very disturbing was that he has the infamous Diana Lee Edwards on staff at the Eastern Store. Truly disturbing.

My advice would be to contact the attorney general directly. They have dedicated considerable resources to put this"low life" behind bars like he deserves. They almost had him on the housing scam.
