Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This is a company that thrives off manipulating the customer. Any customer that signs this agreement is a fool. Why? For one you don't know what this "Governed by the state"interest rate is. Why sign something when you have no clue what you will pay in the long run? Secondly, You pay X amount of dollars for a stupid discount club and X amount of dollars for a Waiver for Liability Damages to furniture....REALLY? The employees for this company are trained to lie for this company. Then have the audacity to ask you to sign an arbitration. Lastly, you can never see where your money is actually going. RIP OFF COMPANY! BEWARE!

This person has some good points. I am a past employee of RAC, and I left because I didn't feel right about the real goals of the company compared to the stated goals of the company. In my opinion RAC Acceptance was changed to Acceptance Now so that people wouldn't associate the name with Rent-A-Center. I left because when people would pay their commitments off, I was pressured to re-sign them to another agreement for more merchandise. The companies training advised to think with a servants heart, but controlling people with bad or insufficient credit seemed wrong to me. The real truth is that RAC or Rent-A-Center is a high interest loan program where you will pay 2.5 to 7.5 the cost an item is worth. The contract says "Rent-A-Center" right at the top. The reality is that people signing the contract want the item, so they don't read the contract closely. Also, many people have not got to a position of needing a company such as Rent-A-Center because they make good credit choices. I don't try to judge others, but I don't believe in not using the rent-to-own industry. I was in the same market as Chicago, all day stores would do a "shout out" when they signed another deal. I would see 10-20 deals signed just in Chicago itself on most days, and another 10-15 agreements signed in Indiana daily. It didn't take long to see that the focus wasn't to help people, it was to enter the person into another bad financial decision that would only put them farther behind due their own bad decision. While I don't believe it's fair to make money due to others misfortunes, I also don't believe it is right to sign an agreement, and take possession of item that you have no intention of paying for. To the person who pays on an item until they feel they have paid too much I feel some compassion, but others give false information on credit apps, knowing they are going to steal the product without paying, which is theft. I will say in closing that people enter into these contracts, and only people can decide to walk away. My opinion is that people should focus on rebuilding credit through credible means, and stay away from the rent-to-own industry.
