The purpose of this posting is to encourage others to continue being pro-active and responsible citizens. As we continue to share information and file complaints with our Attorney Generals, ONE DAY this matter will be of broad public interest it will warrant the AG's intervention under the state's consumer protection laws.

---

I received the mailer from Ramada Plaza Resorts dated 11/18/02. Luckily, I was not personally victimized by this company because while I was on the phone with them, I was also reading the Rip-Off reports and therefore declined all promotional offers.

While reviewing some of the complaints/reports listed on this web site and among other web sites it has come to my attention that Ramada Plaza Resorts has victimized consumers across the United States - and surprisingly, it appears that they are still in business, even though most victims have contacted their Attorney Generals in their respective states.

I have contacted various Networks (i.e. ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, CNN, etc...) and the Attorney General (AG) in Los Angeles, and received a correspondent from the AG's office today.

In the AG letter it states: Complaints are used to develop informational about patterns of business activity which might indicate the need for formal investigation or law enforcement action by the AG office. And that California law does not allow the AG office to represent private individuals in personal civil matters. In cases of statewise significance, then the office can bring legal action on behalf of the collective legal interests of the people of the state when substantive evidence is accumulated which indicates that a firm is systematically violating the Law.

Enclosed with the letter was a Press Release dated August 17, 2000.

Attorney General, District Attorneys Settle Consumer Complaint With Three Florida Travel Companies Companies Used Robin Leach "Pack Your Bags" Travel Advertisements

(MARIN, Calif.) Attorney General Bill Lockyer today joined with the district attorneys of Marin and Napa in announcing settlement of a consumer protection lawsuit to restrict advertising practices and require refunds to be offered by Travel Opportunities of Fort Lauderdale, Inc., National Travel Services, Inc., and Ramada Plaza Resorts-Orlando/Ft. Lauderdale Vacations. The companies had been accused, among other things, of using misleading and deceptive promotions featuring Robin Leach's "Pack Your Bags" travel advertisements.
