Surprisingly my wife and I took a vacation with RPR's in 1999 and had a great time. We upgraded our hotel and cabin on the cruise. The hotel on the beach in West Palm Beach was worth the money. We loved it. We hated the 2.5 hour time share presentation but we knew about it ahead of time. We didn't get our rental car because it was in Ft. Lauderdale and we were staying in West Palm Beach. We figured these things happen and went on with our vacation. Our ship was a little less than what we expected, we didn't get our double bed and larger cabin upgrade even thought we paid for it but we didn't let it ruin our trip. The ships pool was useless to us as it was about the size of two hot tubs put together.

While in Bahamas we had a great time. Then we returned to Florida and off to Orlando. Our hotel in Orlando wasn't bad but we had to go through a lot to get our room. The RPR employee was great. She asked us if we wanted to go to the time share presentation to get our tickets for Universal Studios. We said no but she gave us the tickets anyway.

When we got home we figured out what we paid and what we got for our money. We figured that we could have had a better vacation with the same amount of money on our own, but we still liked it overall.

Then I got a phone call in 2000 with an offer to go on a similar vacation, on a better cruise line and at a reduced cost. We thought at the reduced price it would be worth it. We put our $598 down. In 2002 we paid another $100 to extend the trip package as we hadn't taken it yet. We booked our trip for October of 2003. In the last two weeks of September we recieved a letter from RPR saying that our trip had expired and that we couldn't go. My wife and I quickly booked a different last minute trip because our jobs require us to choose our vacation dates in advance and can't change them.

When we called and explained that we paid for an extension and wanted our money back, they said that the trip was booked and we'd have to take it or lose our money. I faxed them a copy of the letter they sent me saying our trip was a no go. I was put through to three different people and nothing ever came of it.

We took the first trip because of the name Ramada and thought it would be reputable. Our first trip with them had some problems but we figured these things happen. After booking the second trip I realized that they use high pressure to get your money and once they have it they don't give a d**n. I am glad to contribute something to this site as reading it will hopefully save someone else from spending/losing a large amount of money on dissapointment.

Ramada Plaza Resorts Refund

#2Author of original report

I would just like to report that I did in fact get my full refund from Ramada Plaza Resorts. I started by filing a report with this website and then a formal complaint with the Florida Consumers Affairs people. Within a month I had a complete refund. This is something that repeated telephone calls directly to RPR's couldn't accomplish.
