Ramada Plaza Resorts Beware of Terms & Conditions deceptive company Ft. Lauderdale

I received a letter in the mail, informing me that I had won a chance for a special cruise vacation with Ramada Plaza Resorts in August 2001. I decided to pay for the cruise vacation approx $600 in May, 2002 after speaking with a representative, who assured me that even though I was a foreign national in the USA, I would be able to travel. I was asked to make sure that I applied to the Bahamian Embassy for a visa.
Subsequent to the strict immigration law changes made since 9/11, I can leave the US freely but cannot return unless I have a valid visa reissued from my native country, Kenya. This in effect means, that I can go on the cruise but cannot reenter the US due to the new immigration laws. I informed RPR about this, and they offered me a "land-based" vacation, for only $198.00 more. I declined with the explanation, that I wanted to go on a cruise and was not interested in the offer. I requested a cancellation of my vacation upon which I was transferred to a Customer Service Specialist.
She listened to my appeal, but declined to refund my payment saying that I should have done so within 3 days of receiving the vacation package, after that I forfeit all payments.
I was astounded that even though I have not used the vacation, I cannot be refunded. It seems that this company baits you with the letter and since you make the call and they claim to be legitimate, you make the committment. They even give assuarances that you can travel anytime. The only problem comes when you want to cancel. First of all, 3 days to return the vacation is too short, unless you FEDEX the package by special delivery the day you receive it.
Anyway I will not give up my request for my refund. Wish me luck and beware of Ramada Plaza Resorts/Ft. Lauderdale Imperial Cruise Vacation.
