My mother and law lives a block away from Ray Tuck's automotive on Lakeside ave.

She's been going to him for the last 10 years. Usually just for oil changes and inspections. My fiancee and I were pressed to take our car to "Ray's" on the account that she would pay for it. Not a bad deal right? When you are in your early 20's and counting pennies to make ends meat, its raelly not something that you can refuse.

For the last 2 years we've been taking our car to him. The work we had done was have a new radiator put in, a new fuel pump, new tires (yeah right), and I believe we also had him work on our transmission. I will update more later this week once I dig out my receipts. Every single time we got our car back exceptionally fast, like usually less than 24 hours later we would be able to pick it up. Very strange. Everytime we went to pick up our car, on the ride home we would usually notice something else wrong. One time , the last time ,he even installed a second horn, claiming that ours was broken. The horn worked fine then, and still does now. Why the heck did he install a second one?!? Anyway, this guy is a real creep on the phone, even claiming he doesn't keep copies of receipts or anything that would say what work was actually done. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR OR ANYONE ELSES THERE!!!!!

I can back up this claim of being ripped off.  Not only did this man rip me off but he attempted to rip off my friend (who I mistakenly recommended before I found out what he had done).  I took my car to Ray Tucks.  I was not recommended here, it just happened to be conveniently located near my place of work.  I took my car in to have my brake pads replaced.  I received a call from Ray that there were several other things that needed to be replaced.  He assured me that the quote given to me to take care of the things was more than fair.

Over the telephone I gave him permission to go ahead with the work.  He said I could come get my car the next afternoon.  That very same night my friends car started to make a strange sound.  I advised her that I stumbled upon what I thought to be a reliable mechanic, who's shop also happened to be very close to where she works.  She took her car the very next morning.  That same morning I talked to the mechanic who did my state inspection and mentioned that even though my car had passed the month before I thought he should have let me know that I had all of these other issues.

He was the first to suggest that Ray was ripping me off because he clearly remembered checking at least (2) things that Ray told me needed to be replaced.  He said that they absolutely did not.  He suggested that I ask Ray to have the parts that he pulled out of my car and bring them by so he could check.  I did just that.  My friend came with me.  I let her go first.  Ray started with this whole speech about how her fan was bad and that he suspected that she had further problems but that he would need to take it apart to check.  He said it would cost her a couple of thousand dollars but that afterwords the car "would be good as new".

Needless to say after I warned her of my suspicions before we got there, so she just asked for her keys back and offered him payment for checking the sound.  Now my turn,  I paid my invoice and proceeded to ask Ray for the parts.  He looked like he had seen a ghost.  He quickly snapped out of it though and told me that unfortunately he could not give or show me the parts as they "were immediately disposed of".  Now keep in mind that I picked this car up less than 24 hours after I had dropped it off.  I was furious.  I told him what the other mechanic had said and he looked me right in the face and said "your choice who to believe I guess".

Like it was a big joke or something.  Not funny.  Also,  my friend ended up taking her car elsewhere.  The guy who fixed her car replaced some type of clip ($35.00 total) and sent her on her way.  She has not had any trouble or strange sounds since.  WORDS TO THE WISE : Go with your gut.  Do you really think someone who was happy with their service at Ray's would waste their time posting lies?? And would you as a business person EVER accuse your customers of lying in the first place?  I am all for supporting our locally owned business.  However bad business is bad business.

Can't be Ray's

I have been taking my vehicles to Ray's for 4 years, my wife has for 6 years, my mother-in-law for 3 years and my company vehicles (16 of them) for 2 years with no issues.  Ray has always given a detailed (computer-generated) accounting of the work that was done.  He has fixed things for free.  He has turned down work that my mother-in-law insisted needed to be done but really didn't.  His maintenance plan has doubled (so far, maybe longer, who knows) the life of my company vehicles.  I'm not sure who you are talking about but it can't be Ray Tuck.  Anyone that needs a reference, please contact me through this website and I'll be happy to speak to you.

TRUTH ABOUT BUCKAROO BANZAI'S FALSE CLAIM

Fri, August 14, 2009

In response to buckaroo's report I have been on a quest to find any invoice or cust. info on this claim.  We , at ray tuck's auto take pride in our customer service, fast turn around time & getting to know our customers personaly.  this  report was brought to my atten. from a phone call saying they could remove this report ( for a price ). I dont know if this is a scam or some one is mad at the repair shop because thier car needs repair.    Ray tuck's auto has no record of any repair or memory of this cust. or mother in law after 10 yrs. of repairing her car.  I find this report hard to be true because at the time of this report ray tuck's auto has only been in business for 6 yrs. not 10 .  True customers know our techs. & me personaly & know if they have ANY problem with an employe or a repair, I will be more than happy to work it out or refund the repair.   In 25 yrs in the auto repair industry I have never heard a cust. complain about getting thier car back fast. We at ray tuck,s automotive invite everyone to come in & see for them selves how personal & professional we are.
