On Sunday June 17, 2001 I ordered a Canon G1 digital camera from RegencyCamera via the phone. They told me it was in stock and would ship on the next day. They charged my credit card on Monday June 18.

Four days later, on June 21, I called them back to get a tracking number. They told me they couldn't find the tracking number but that the itme had been shipped and would arrive in five business days.

On Monday, June 25, I called back again to get a tracking number, because, if it had shipped on June 18 as promised, it should already have arrived. They told me they were sorry, but that they didn't have the item, had never had it, hadn't shipped it, and didn't know when they would be able to ship it, since it was no longer being manufactured (a lie).

I told them I wanted to cancel my order. After a five minute delay, they told me they could not find my order but would cancel it and call me back within the hour to confirm the cancelation. They never called back.

I spent an hour calling them back to confirm that the order had been cancelled but kept getting shuffled from one answering machine to another... never able to talk to a person.

As of June 28, my credit card and still not been credited (refunded) any amount by RegencyCamera. I initiatied a "dispute" with the credit card company who issued me a temporary credit while they work it out with Regency. The credit card company was apalled that Regency had charged my card without having shipped the item.
