"Chris" from Regional Yellow Pages called me and -- after having me verify standard business information (address, phone number), which of course led me to say the word "yes" more than once -- led me to believe that our previous owner owed RYP some money for advertising ($479.95). I told him to send the bill to the previous owner, and told him to cancel the service going forward because we didn't want it.
What started then has been an avalanche of fraudulent claims from Regional Pages/Regional Yellow Pages (which is NOT associated with the real Yellow Pages company), and some expert recording editing to make it sound like I authorized charges that I did not.
Here are all of my notes from each phone call:
4/23/10 Chris called for [PREVIOUS OWNER'S NAME] to pay bill from
previous 2 years ($479.95); cancelled going forward (Cancellation File #
MMU5070788)
Searched
for Online Yellow Pages advertising online and discovered it is a scam; they
send an invoice for the money but it notes in the fine print that THIS IS NOT
A BILL(((REDACTED)))

Mack (Max?) called saying he worked
for a collections agency for Regional Pages Online and said that we had not
paid our invoice. He played a recording
of Chris & my conversation that did NOT include the part of the
conversation where I cancelled the
service going forward, nor the part where if it was about 2 years of PREVIOUS service that it needed to go to[PREVIOUS OWNER'S NAME]

Received fax of collection notice and invoice from Max Cordy (866-366-7904 x. 306)called and left message to speak to
him. Returned call and was highly
argumentative, noted that he could NOT get me in contact with Chris because they have so many
employees and they are in different departments; ended call. I called back and spoke with the Customer Service person who answered
(no name given), and when I asked for Chris
and explained the date he called, she said He no longer works hereclearly
she knows who he is, unless, of course he doesnt exist

Note that our websites URL is not listed, which conflicts with the service that
RegionalPages.com gave us according to their Invoice, which states Mini Web
Page: YES Included, full company description, webpage link, business hours,
driving directions. In fact, very
little of this information is on our listing.

Subsequent phone calls to the same number have simply been met by a long wait on hold listening to some crappy muzak.
