IF you have the money in your account when you make the transaction! This is a very hard concept for people to understand, and only people who do not understand it pay NSF fees. Here's how you avoid the fees. Keep an accurate checkbook register. NEVER depend on the ATM for an accurate balance. NEVER record a deposit in your register until it POSTS. No not "float" checks. It amazes me how many people do not keep an accurate checkbook register, then come on here and report a rip off when they get charges NSF fees as per their contract. I have NEVER paid an NSF fee in 32 years of having a checking account. Not one! Why do you suppose that is? Switch to money orders and check cashing stores if you cannot properly maintain a checking account register. Using overdraft protection is a very bad idea, and it is expensive. It should be avoided. And you should never go below $100 in your account if you are negligent in maintaining your account. And, it is STANDARD practice at MOST banks to process checks/charges before deposits on the same business day. That, too is in your contract.

I had the same problem with overdraft fees. When I called I was told that the order in which they process transactions is Checks show first, then deposits then checkcard/atm transactions. I also found out that if a transaction shows pending one day and is not there the next it is because they show the transaction when it occurs, but if after 3 days they don't have the paper backup from the company that you purchased from they will drop it off of your account only to repost it when they get the back up. I am looking for a new bank.
