Reid's AUTO SALES ripoff victimized many consumers Eight Mile Alabama
I traded in my Dodge Colt Vista for a Honda Civic. I paid my payments, sometimes on time and sometimes late. We had one problem after another with the car. It ran hot after having it a week. We took it to them, they could find nothing wrong with it.
When I could not get them to fix the car, I stopped making my payments. When I was 9 months pregnant, they came in the middle of the night and repossessed the car after I had told them to come and get it. They did 3 weeks later. I filed for Chapter 13 and they were paid for over 6 years.
When I had the chapter 13 dismissed 2 years ago, I got a certified letter where they were sueing me for almost $2000 for what I owed them. We only financed $1100 and they had been paid $900 while in bankruptcy. I went to court and the judge asked them how much I had paid them while in bankruptcy. I had the paperwork as did the judge and Reid's told them we had only paid $110.
The federal court was called and the judge asked him where the car was. His brother would have to research it and let him know. THe judge told him that if he wanted to pursue this, he could, but if the car had been sold, I was supposed to have been credited all that money. He was basically made to look like an idiot in court! I warn anyone who has a car from Reid's that they will be ripped off in a minute and to be very very careful!
