Rent-A-Center Corruption Rampage, Reign of Terror, Scum of Hell Nationwide
Not only was I a returning customer of RAC, but my boyfriend has worked there for over a year and a half so I'm very familiar with their under-handed practices. Let me just start this by saying yes, my bf is probably the one banging on your door if you're late with a payment. Yes, he's probably the one that had called you 4-5 times before going to your house. Yes, he probably the one that talked you into the merchandise and wrote up your contract. Did he WANT to do any of those? NO! I'm very surprised that he's been able to make it this far with all the BS he's had to do and guess what? He's probably more disgusted with his actions than you, but they are job requirements and we have children to take care of.
If you think someone banging on your door is bad, think for a second if you ever rented a computer/phone from them(or know someone that has) and that item had to be returned or sent out to be serviced. Odds are, every file on that device was rummaged through by the employee(s) and most likely information had been transferred elsewhere. As is general practice at the store here, the Store Manager himself, searches for pornagraphic material and then displays it for everyone in the store to see, texts it to multiple people and will even keep his own personal copies. He'll keep merchandise for days before sending it out to ensure maximum privacy violations. After he's done with that, him or another employee will search the browser history and will help themselves to your ebay, Amazon, etc. account and have stuff shipped to their house, if possible, they delete any emails if you're still logged into your account.
The corruption at these stores is just beyond outrageous and they get more deceiving daily. The actions of some of these employees are just appalling, but sadly they get a free ride to continue doing these things as even though such issues (and many, many others) have been brought to the attention of district managers as well as corporate themselves and they only saw fit to violate my bf's confidentiality, after promising to keep it intact, and has made himself more of a target. Keep in mind that not all RAC employees are perverted scum, some are just doing what they HAVE to do to put food on the table or clothes on their kid's backs. I've been on both ends of the RAC spectrum and neither one is better than the other. You're "lucky" if you're only getting phone calls, it's when they leave you alone that you should worry. I'm not even going to get into the third party disclosure rant, but basically if they aren't calling you, they are calling everyone that you know or knows you and completely destroying your name and reputation.
