RESERVATIONS.COM is a third party reservations company that links to numerous hotels worldwide. I made a reservation for a New Zealand hotel on the internet that I assumed was a direct reservation with the New Zealand hotel. The room rate provided by RESERVATIONS.COM was NOT identified as US Dollars or NZ Dollars. As I believed that I had made a direct reservation with the New Zealand hotel, I assumed the room rate was in NZ Dollars. [One NZ Dollar = 0.686 US Dollar.] RESERVATIONS.COM charged my credit card in US Dollars and added fees not represented on its ROOM TYPES & RATES quote. RESERVATIONS.COM also charged my credit card a NON-REFUNDABLE fee of $14.99 that was NOT clearly represented on its ROOM TYPES & RATES quote.
Upon notice from my credit card of the two charges, I contacted RESERVATIONS.COM (Nori at ext. 51399) on the same day that I made my reservation. I requested that I wanted to cancel my reservation and receive full reimbursement for the two credit card charges by RESERVATIONS.COM. I was informed that RESERVATIONS.COM would refund my New Zealand hotel room charge but NOT the NON-REFUNDABLE fee of $14.99 USD. I indicated to RESERVATIONS.COM that their business practices are NON-TRANSPARENT and DECEPTIVE. Furthermore, I indicated to RESERVATIONS.COM that NON-TRANSPARENT and DECEPTIVE business practices do NOT give a business a right to charge UNAUTHORIZED NON-REFUNDABLE fees.
