Retro Distributors Pty Ltd Scam. Lux Audio HT-8500 Surround Sound system Warriewood, Sydney NSW
This was a mistake I made 3 years ago.
2 middle eastern blokes approached me in a white van at Pennant Hills, Sydney and asked me if I was interested in some audio systems. One of the guys mentioed that they had extra stock which they needed to get rid of or the company would return it.
They have audio systems which were branded 'LUX'. They had 5.1 systems and pairs of tower speakers to suit.
I ended up getting the 5.1 system which I foolishly gave them $900 for. They initially asked for $1500 for it and if I wanted the tower speakers it would be an extra $800.
Gave me reciept and warranty papers aswell.
Went home to check out the "LUX" audio site which led me to a US based company and it stated that the system was worth US$1500.
Though nothing of it until now. I have never used it and was thinking of selling it on ebay. Seen a couple on there for AU$800.
But after doing some more reasearch I noticed that the US site no longer exisits and same with the Sydney based company.
All in all, dont buy anything out the back of a van!
