If you had spent a little time on the internet prior to publishing those slanderous comments, you would have noticed that the tax was imposed in 1993, by the Florida Legislature.(see F.S. 212.0306) The tax was imposed on all establishments that sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises, except for hotels and motels. Only businesses that make over $400,000.00, in gross receipts annually, are obligated to collect the tax. 85% of the collections go to the homeless trust, and 15% goes to Miami-Dade County for domestic violence centers. There are three cities that do not collect the tax. They are Surfside, Bal Harbour and Miami Beach. Perhaps all of your time and efforts should be spent getting the Miami-Dade County Commission to explain itself on the tax.

Look at your phone bill, like Cory said. See the "excise tax"? That is there to pay for the Spanish-American War. That was fought over 100yrs ago. I think it's been paid for by now.

Take my phone bill for example. My actual phone bill is around $10. But by the time you get done with taxes and fees and such it comes to around $30. Now $5 or $6 of that $30 is MY involuntary contribution so "poor" people can have phone service. Another $1 or so is "poor" schools can have computers. That applies to all of my lines. Both my house and my store. It also applies to my computers, both at the house and at the store. Same thing goes for the cell phones. I mean when is it gonna end? I'm all for a national sales tax. Do away with the income tax.

Why are you so cheap? That comes to .10 on a $10.00 item? And if you Don't want to pay it go somewhere else. Please respond. And don't just say that it's for the "principle" of it.
