Rhino Engines And Transmissions RHINO ENGINES - Returned my old engine and transmission and they will not return my core deposit. Nationwide
I ordered an engine and transmission for a 01' Ford Explorer Sport Trac in June of 2008 from Rhino Engines. I did the engine swap in my driveway and immediately called to have my cores picked up.
They immediately picked up the engine but it took about 3-4 weeks and numerous phone calls to get them to pickup the transmission. It is now 2009 and I have not received my core deposits totaling about $1000.00.
I have made untold amounts of phone calls and sent numerous emails and only once, about two months ago did I receive a call back. I was told I was due 100% of my core deposit and the reason it had taken so long was because the accounting was more setup to businesses and not individuals. But that I should see my refund any day.
Since then I have left more voicemails but today the box was full and would not allow me to leave another. In the last week the website will only display the homepage no matter what link you try, the fax number I have is disconnected, the email for my salesman no longer works and the emails they once had accessible from their website come back undeliverable.
If by chance anyone is about to send them money for an engine or transmission, STOP they are going out of business and will not return your money!

I ended up filing a complaint with the District Attorney in New York about two weeks ago. I got a call from an investigator with the financial crimes unit. He informed me that the New York Attorney General is taking over the case with at least 60 complaints against Rhine Engines. They know that the company is reopening with the same people and most likely the same methods of ripping people off under the new name Gator Engines. They already have a website up and running if you google it. They are allowing them to reopen with sanctions. A percentage of their profits will go toward repaying the people they screwed as Rhino Engines. So if you still have documentation and want to get in on recovering your lost money from Rhino contact the New York Attorney General at (585) 546-7430, Ben Bruce is the main guy and Chris Holland is also working the case. If you are looking for an engine or transmission please steer clear of Gator Engines.
