In January of 2001 I hired Right On Time Moving (ROT) to move my household items from Walnut Creek, CA to Logan, UT. The estimated time of delivery was 4 days. It took them 3 weeks.

When they finally arrived, almost all the boxes were severely damaged (see attached photos), thus damaging many items inside the boxes including a notebook computer, microwave oven, computer monitor, and others.

The most expensive item we had was our King size Simmons mattress. It was about 3 months old at the time and in perfect condition. It cost almost $1,000. When ROT unloaded the mattress I was shocked to see that it was totally bent out of shape. It looked as if they had just thrown it in storage in an upright position then let it fall part way over while heavy boxes were piled on top of it. Needless to say, it was totally damaged and rendered worthless.

I contacted ROT several times every month. During a period of almost 7 months I was promised many times that they would return my calls. That only happened once. All the other times they DID NOT so much as send me an email or phone message. They have spent months dragging out my claim and finally after 8 months, I called Antoinette of their claims dept. (she was supposed to call me of course) and she said that they had finally issued a check to me. This is the kicker. The check was for less than $200. And this was for $3000 worth of damage and being 3 weeks late on the delivery. I am appalled.

Their service has been non-existent from the start and they are obviously taking advantage of consumers. I was told that the cost of moving included $15,000 worth of insurance. Now they tell me that it is based on a per pound basis, not actual cash value. They are telling customers one thing, but hiding the truth in the small print, then denying their original sales pitch.
