Riteway Services Plumber demands higher prices than doctor! Riverside, California
We had a slab leak and were without hot water over the weekend. We thought we had to use Riteaway plumbers, because they were sent to our house by First American Homebuyers' Protection Plan. The plumbers explained that they had to run a new line through the attic to bypass the leaking pipe. I understood that they had to run the new line from the water heater at the front of the house to beyond the leaking pipe near the back of the house.
The price was $3200.00. That seemed high, but considering the distance and the difficulty working in the attic with--I assumed--copper pipe, maybe it was reasonable .
Two men worked for about four hours. It turns out that they didn't use copper pipe; they used flexible plastic tubing. They didn't run the tubing to the water heater; they ran it about twenty-five feet. And broke a bathroom drawer along the way.
When our homeowner's insurance sent an estimator over, he said the job should have cost $1750.00.
The work was satisfactory, but it was way overpriced. Multiple messages left with the company headquarters were ignored until we were told bluntly that we signed a contract agreeing to the price, and so they wouldn't budge.
