In March, my husband I decided we really needed to get away on a short overnight adventure. Although we live over two hours away from the New Jersey Shore, we thought that we would like to see what was left of our beloved beaches since we have'nt been there since Sandy.  We took a look around the city and decided that a Roadway Inn would be as comfortable as we needed.  The sign outside the inn boasted of having a contenental breakfast.    Fine, it was a little pricy and my husband and I turned to leave.  The next moment a man was behind the registeration desk asking us if we would not change our minds about leaving.  We negotiated a price that was fair to the hotel and ourselves.  He never recorded that cash exchange.  He simply put it in his pocket.  He gave us a key and a room number to which my husband and I said good night to him. I noticed that there was a window on the other side of the room and looked out to see a used toliet smack dab behind my building. It was near 10 pm and we just wanted to get warm and sleep.  The room was so cold we called the front desk to ask why the thermostat did'nt work, no one answered.  Al went out to the office only to find it empty and no sign or number to call in case of an emergency.  Okay, that was that.  At sometime in the night the toilet in our room  began to run and water spilled over the seat unto the floor.  We got out of there the next morning early.  The breakfast they promised had no milk for cereal, it was ridiculious to call it a breakfast.  They had a yogurt and coffee. That was their idea of a conental breakfast .  When I asked the manager where was the rest of the food, he shrugged his sholders and said that the orange juice machine was broken and that the yogurt and coffee was all that was available.  Same on them.  The room was dark and dirty, the toilet ran all night it was freeging as it was late March.  I called their corporate offce and the fellow on the end of the line was certainly not going to concede the place had done anything in the wrong.  I soon got the message.  He was telling me that not only were they not responsible for the condition of the inn but that the toilet I'd seen probably was on someone elses property and not the Roadway Inn.  Hummph...he was giving me all kinds of double talk and denial, so I decided to let you know about this place.  Just keep riding by...don't stop inn.
