I went to the Women's Department and purchased approximately $150 in merchandise. I then went to the Luggage Department where I purchased a $50 rolling backpack. I then proceeded to the Men's Department where I tried to purchase 3 pair of jeans for my husband. It was in this department where I was the victim of the ignorance and prejudice of one of the associates.

The woman in question, observed me browsing between the racks of jeans. At no time did she approach me to ask if I needed any help but she did instead follow me from display to display with no effort to hide the fact that she was watching me. As if this were not enough, she then got on the phone to call security. I heard her loud and clear give a full description of me including my clothing and my headdress, which she referred to insultingly as this thing on her head.

Within one minute two male associates arrived. Again, no one offered any help but they all watched me until I went to the counter to purchase. I completed the transaction and marched directly over to the customer service department to return the jeans telling the associate my reasons. I will not continue to spend money in any establishment that does not ensure that its customers are treated with the respect and kindness that they deserve.

I will not give my hard-earned dollar to an establishment that maintains and/or does not take an active role in eliminating racism, religious bias and any other form of hate crimes against a non-white. It saddens me deeply to know that despite my two degrees, good-manners, impeccable presentation and four gold cards at Robinson-May Department Stores I am still just a (((REDACTED FOUL LANGUAGE))).

How were you ripped off? Were you arrested? Face it, we're all being watched at times -- you just happened to notice that you were the one being watched at the time. Regardless of how people are dressed, or who they are, everyone is suspect (Winona Rider). Should Winona complain that the misogynist security people targetted her because she was a woman? If you don't like Robinson's May, then don't shop there, but don't pull out the race card (and use the "N" word) every time you think you've been wronged.
