RocTel ripoff Rochester New York
I got a shock of wild in my mail when my telephone bill included $14.95 from a telephone company, RocTel I had never heard of. The supposed services I supposedly received included a "privacy" voicemail that could be accessed anywhere in the world. Well I have my answering machine that I have had over the past seven years, that does not give me any problem. I do not know what their "privacy" is all about since my phone is private.
This is a ripoff. A couple of months ago I also was slammed with $14.95 by another company, Orbit Telecom (which has been identified by another complainer). These companies are fraudulent. They just worm up on one's telephone account, thanks to the Internet as well as their deceptive advertizing that you have either won a prize or some Internet survey.
I would suggest that the government and congress take steps from discouraging such companies to slam unauthorized services and billings via our local companies such as Qwest, without an authorized signature from the customer, suggesting that they had actually ordered this service or understood the conditions for being slammed these unwanted and fraudulent services and billings.
