S JEWELER Igor ??? scrap gold was stolen by misinformation / weapon was pulled on customer and police report filed. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
ON Wednesday 8-10-11,I sold scrap gold to S JEWELER for what they said was "current market value" "top dollar paid". I was asked to fill out invoice and sign - but was never given a written reciept due to the fact they RIPPED ME OFF! The narrative part of the invoice was later completed by the counterperson after I left. No receipt was given to me at that time. After further reserch and some simple mathmatics - they gave me $530 dollars at $20 per dwt, I figured out I had 26 dwt with simple math. But they should have paid me $50.87 per dwt - the current market value for that day, or $1322.82. Upon arrival at home I attempted to contact them but they wouldn't answer my calls. On Thursday 8-11-11, I was at their business at 10 AM, opening. I asked for my gold back and I'd give them the cash back if it was such a fair deal. But that was unacceptable to them. The counterperson taunted me "You made a bad business deal" and gloated and taunted me over and over. They pushed the panic alarm and within minutes, 3 Phila police cars were there, and counterperson stated I "threatened him". Just the opposite - counterperson made an aggressive move towards me and went under the counter for a weapon. (video cameras present) At that time I walked out the front door to diffuse the situation, and waited for police and explained my predicament. No one was arrested, but the police asked me to leave due to the fact they were not going to appease me by returning my gold for the cash. There is a police report filed for Thursday's event. Doesn't Pennsylvania have a three day right to recind law? I was well within my rights to get my gold back or a more equitable adjustment towards correct value. Needless to say I'm furious, to say the least. What are my options at this point? Very Respectfully, Joe.
