Sam Swope Auto Center is set up on a very impressive campus, better and bigger than any car dealer that I have ever witnessed before. The sales people were very friendly, but it all goes downhill from there. First off, between the two new GMC Terrains I was looking at, one had 300miles and another had 1000 miles. They must let the sales people take the cars home overnight, when I asked about this, the sales lady started acting funny and rude. Then we decided to purchase the car, and the price suddenly goes up over $1k. When we wanted to know why, the dealer says that there is like a $600 dollar dock fee- a fee which I understand and am willing to pay. The glitch comes when they demanded $700 for a "Touch of Class paint protectant" or something called "ResistAll". I thought this was strange to demand that much money for a product which I never asked for, but in an effort of being fair I started to investigate the product since I was told it was already applied to the car. I called the service and body shops in the dealer, and noone could tell me anything about it, or even seemed to know anything about the product. That is proof of something strange because the saleswoman said that every vehicle gets that product. I have continued to call the 800 number the dealer gave to me about the product, but it is a busy signal. After continuing to ask why I have to pay 700 bucks for something I did not ask for or want, the sales woman refused talk to us and had the manager call back. The manager said that we could refuse the product, which he claims has not been applied yet, but we still have to pay them $700. Basically, it is a rip-off, otherwise I would have the option to refuse the product. Do not buy from Sam Swope, they will bleed you at the end of the sale with bogus fees and a nice $700 wax job.

I know people who work for this company and I know people who have worked for this company in the past.

Sam Swope Auto Group is the media darling the of Louisville area. The advertising dollars spent by this company are unbelievable, running as many as 3 or 4 commercials during one commercial break. They support the Boy Scouts. They give to United Way -- and practically force their employees to give to United Way, as well. That way at the end of the year, the company presents a check to the United Way and they look like such great people. They are supporters and donors at all the major events that make Louisville, KY. Everyone in that town is always looking for money from them to sponsor events and for advertising - so no one is going to say anything about them and they are all just going to smile.

I can't speak for Sam Swope, the man who started this business personally, but those who have taken his place and are running things? If you only knew the truth!

There have been a lot of complaints against this company, but they are covered up or paid off with "hush money". No one hears anything bad because no one in that town (media and otherwise) will say anything bad about them because all the people who 'matter' rub elbows with all the media executives. It's quite a cozy arrangement.

About a year ago, some guy who works there as a mechanic was wearing his hat backwards and d**k Swope saw it and sent an email out saying that Sam Swope is not 'the hood'. d**k Swope is white, rich and wouldn't know 'the hood' if it bit him in the butt! Talk about a racist comment! Wearing your hat backwards as a mechanic has nothing to do with 'the hood' and more to do with being country, if the truth were told.

If you were to talk to the ex employees who have worked there and listen to their stories of lies, theft and deception, it would make your hair stand on end, curl and turn white.

They sell cars and don't inspect them and then put the cars out on the road with their customers in them but they tell the customers that they've been through rigorous testing. Many of these cars are never tested, they are just turned around and sold as is.

Patty Swope within the last year or two got her insurance license and they've been shaking down the employees to purchase their auto insurance through Sam Swope. It's "suggested" to the employees to do that.

They don't care about their employees and they don't care about their customers. If you look at their facebook page you will see all these rich customers who either paid cash for their cars or were able to finance through their bank singing the Swope's praises and telling you what a great place it is to purchase a car. If you talk to the employees who are in positions of authority or who have been there for a long time (over five years) most of them will tell you it is a great place to work. Isn't that wonderful? But the true test of a company is how it treats the lowest employee and the poorest customer who had to finance through their buy here pay here department. So how do they treat their lowest employees? I think you would be hard pressed to find out because those employees who hold those positions change like you'd change underwear. They don't stay. I wonder why? Maybe someone should ask? How do they treat their lowest customers? Well, you can read about it here and in many other places on the web. I think one guy even dedicated a website to how horrible they are. Not sure if it still exists or not. These are not nice people. They are predators.

A friend of mine who works for the State of Kentucky will tell you that Patty Swope was having an affair with her husband. You kind of have to laugh. Patty is, after all, the face of Sam Swope Auto Group, right? It's not nice to screw other people, literally or figuratively. The beautiful thing about the internet is that people who think they own the world because they have managed to buy the town they live in have NO power when it comes to the rest of the world and the internet.

This so-called "dock fee" is nothing more than another BOGUS, ADD-ON, PHONEY FEE.
