Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My wife and I are shopping for a new truck. Currently we own a clean, older model 1 ton dually, but fuel prices are eating us alive so we decided to find something more economical. Our first stop of the day was Sands Chevrolet, which is in our neighborhood.

Upon arriving at the dealership, I parked our truck across the street and proceeded towards the lot where to my surprise I was greeted by a salesman. While that may not seem unusual, how about the fact that we hadn't even crossed the street when this salesman was greeting us,(can you say anxious).

Well the salesman did his thing and had the wife test driving a truck in no time flat, while I continued to look at other possibles... all the while noticing that there were no prices on any of the vehicles on their lot.

I asked my wife if she had gotten a price for the car she had just tested, and she stated, "he said ABOUT $22,000".

Long story short....we went inside of the office to "crunch some numbers" with the salesman and the financial manager. I informed both gentlemen,(ha ha), that I would not be making a purchase at that time but they insisted I would like to know some of the finacing particulars. After an hour of haggling with THREE different financial managers who did not seem to understand the words "NO SALE TODAY", I finally said thank you for the offers and proceeded to leave when the last of the Finance Mgrs said,"good..and don't come back here".

That was all she wrote...any chance they had of making a deal with us was gone, and as the poor salesman was trying to give my wife his card...she told him, "sorry but your BOY in there just lost any chance you had of making a sale, so please tell him to kiss my a@#", and thanked HIM,(salesman) for his kind service, but told him we would not be back. If the finance guys had just been professional...they probably would have gotten my business, and if Sands Resale would put prices on their cars...they could save consumers and themselves a lot of headaches.

My Story is Even Worse - Victim of "Hide the Key" game

#2Consumer Comment

Tue, December 23, 2003

Hello I am also a consumer who unfortunately entered the Sands Chevrolet Resale to trade in a minivan for a newer car. I let them have my key to check out the minivan while I looked at cars. As looked at cars, I noticed no prices posted and told the salesman that I didnt like this. We found a car he thought was within my stated spending limit of $10,000 and he went to get the price. He came back saying that they needed more time to evaluate the van and suggested a test drive. I went along unfortunately. When we returned, he went in and came back with an offer to buy my minivan and sell me the car. It was $15,995. I said he must not have heard me and asked him to please get my key back so I could leave. At this point a manager steps in and trys to explain how they have to add the money they give me to pay off the minivan back into the price of the car. I said I didn't like his math - I didnt want to pay him $6000 to pay off my van (on which I owe $6900) and them pay him $10,000 for the car. I again asked for the price of the car and he replied "what price do you want it to be?". I again said I didnt think he understood and asked for my key. I even handed him my card and said this is where I could be reached if they changed their mind. He said he would get the key, then dissappeared. About five minutes of waiting and another manager comes out with my key. He wants me to sit down to discuss the numbers again and I flat refused, grabbed my key, tossed him the key to the car, and took off. The manager storms out after me saying "Don't disrespect me like that - throwing the key in my face". We proceeded to have a major cussing match outside the store - near fist fight- and not wanting to be placed in jail before Christmas, I left. Since, I have been very stressed about the situation. They have all my personal information. Regardless, I will never go there again. Scary.

I went through the same thing with those YAHOOS!!!! I wanted to purchase a P/U from them and test drove a few. We crunched numbers a few different days in a row. I think the salesman was nice but when it came down to dealing with the CHITHEAD fleet manager for a new truck, that was all over as soon as he had sixty seconds with me. I went to Gateway Chevrolet on the fourth day and the salesman took great care of me and I walked out with my 2002 that day. Too bad though, my salesman quit and went to another company.
