I, too, found out that SBI is a ripoff. They bring in recruits at least 25 every friday. It's like a 'baby making factory'.

I write this email to inform and hopefully forewarn those who are interested in going to Sanford Brown Institute in Atlanta Georgia that it is best to find another. Be sure that wherever you go, make sure you get all the information you need to confirm job placement. Ask them ,what is the percentage of job placement? Ask them , are they required and can they guarantee? If not,do they have organizational links to doctors who will hire entry -level Medical Assistants.

I say all that because I should have asked. I should not have blindly trusted my life in their hands. That's my accountability in all of the despair resulting from my experience with SBI. I informed them from the very beginning that I am single and have no other income: and that I do not get out of work sometimes not until 6 pm and they say

they will work it out with me. Do you know they gave me the hardest time, i.e. can not take tests crucial to improving grades, when I showed up 15 minutes late some days.(those 15 minutes effect their income) Of course, pleading with them all the way and informing them of my situation. I graduated as an A student and present over 98% and speeding to work to comply to their demands. I was required to finish course with 180 hours of externship within 1 1/2 months. So holding down my job(disgruntled w/me anyway from trying to leave early) and externship was not a possibility for me. I resigned from my job and went on externship. Do you know that they put me with a doctor who take on externs for

experience only. I received a rave review from the doctor, however, at the end of my term; she tellls me that she can not afford me. SBI knew this but failed to tell me or even give an alternative. End results, I ended up without no income and if they knew this,(that the doctor will not have a place for me) why is it that they were not prepared with a lead for job placement. I received no leads since October of 2008, have had three (3) career service coordinators since then and now on to my fourth coordinator; and still waiting for any lead at all. Also, mind you, I have kept in contact between finding temporary jobs such as call centers. If you don't contact them, they will not contact you. I know they are hoping I just go away.

I went to school to transfer my skills and improve my employability. That is a joke. Their job placement expertise is null and void. I am now out of work for the first time in over thirty (30) years of employment. It is obvious to me, if these career service coordinators can not find doctors who accept entry level Medical Assistants or a MA in my position, then they really do not have connection or poorly developed. I was told to go on craigslist. At SBI , there are no organizational links to specified doctors or medical centers who accept and encourage entry level medical assistants. They are not proactive in students concerns.

Of course, you might see it as my perception. Very well, you don't have to take my word for it. I just say BEWARE!!!

I say if I can just spare at least one of my sisters from a terrible and sad mistake, then I will

receive justice in all of this and at the same time do a good deed.

We're all God's children and I care and love you. I only want for you what I want for myself and that is to be treated as a human being.

Ripped Off

When I started at Sanford-Brown I was a mess, I to was losing my home, marriage, I was using food pantries, and had been in the worse time of my life. It was not due to the school, but other reasons. I enrolled there to get a positive roll in my life. It became my refuge. I would go everyday and became surrounded with good caring people, I received a excellent education, and will truly miss the Instructors and fellow classmates.Hang in there, its a long road but in time the education will pay off. I remember one Instructor always saying, you are one of the elite % you are here, and doing things with your life, more than most do. Good luck! remember what you learned in the Lou Tice series about doing anything you want, dont let anyone drag you down!

I almost lost my home from my experience ,literally starving. It hurts even worst when the ones who assisted you in that devastation was no where to be found or even bother to pick up the phone to ask how are you doing? And then offer no accountability. Have you been there? I wrote for my sisters , to give them heads up in any of their educational endeavors. I sincerely would not want anyone to go through what I have gone through. I hear that the SBI's Career Service Coordinator Department has had a complete overhaul since my time. I pray for their success and all those who goes to the school. God Bless

I just finished my degree in Criminal Justice in Wisconsin. I have nothing put positive things to say about this school. From day one they have your back. The Staff and Instructors are so supportive and well qualified. When ever I had a problem, they were there in a second to help. I can say it was one of the best choices I ever made. The whole enviroment everyday was so positively charged. I also do not understand the job placement thing. They have career service programs weekly. When you graduate they call you constantly to help get you a job.Plus they give you a entire course on resumes and interviewing and job seeking. What more can they do?
