I only want to comment that it is unfortunate that you received this scam. It is going to be hard for you to get that money back as it does not involve the companies mentioned in the complaint. Whoever put this together did a good job of making it all believable. Having lived in Spain I know those companies. The primitiva is really a lottery but you have to buy a ticket before the drawings occur. There is no such a thing as winning without buying tickets first. My mom buys it sometimes but she has a friend out there buy her the tickets. And Santa Lucia is another company but they would not be involved in any way or form in the lottery. They are an insurance company(just like AllState or Progressive). I have seen that they add a bunch of real company names in their scam. Maphre is another insurance company they add in their scam. Sorry to hear about your loss. Good thing you caught it before you sent more money though. I think the most you could do is report it to the Spanish authorities or Interpol. Not sure how you could go through doing that though since you are not in Europe/Spain.
