Sappington Construction,LLC Benjamin Sappington Dishonest Orlando, Florida
Owner of said company entered into a contract to provide carpentry services. Including, purchasing exterior door, installation of said door & lock, painting of door & repair to door frame. Sappington Construction, llc cashed check for down payment in December of 2012. Check represented approximately 50% of the job.
After numerous attempt to contact Mr Sappington for status of job, I asked for refund of all funds paid. Mr Sappington contacted me via gmail saying he would drop a cashiers check by my home the next day. I did not hear from Mr. Sappington, or receive the cashiers check.
Called & left several messages to which no response was given. I was finally able to reach Mr. Sappington in late February. He said he had stuck the envelope with my refund on my front door in mid January. I told him I had not received it. He said he would check with his bank to see if it had been cashed. He found out that it hadn't been cashed and offered to drop a new check to me, in person the week of February 27th. Unfortunately, I have not received my refund. Mr. Sappington does not answer his phone or return calls. Conclusively, I have come to the realization that he does not intend to refund my money or try to resolve the problem. Seemingly one of those checks in the mail ploy....

I can only communicate my experience. When he communicated that he would refund my money, he should have done just that. Additionally, if he couldn't make time in his busy schedule, he could just send the refund via mail. His actions were seemingly dishonest...I received my refund because of the BBB & Rip-off report. It should not have gotten to that point. The problem has been resolved. The End.

I've known Ben Sappington for about 5 years and in that time my wife and I have contracted with him for numerous projects on our circa 1926 home in Downtown Orlando. In that period he has completely gutted and rebuilt two bathrooms and 4 closets. He has arranged for completely new plumbing and the installation of a new tile roof. He has sealed off and insulated the house's crawl space and fixed ventilation issues under the house. He is presently resurfacing ceilings in two rooms and installing track lighting. He has arranged for numerous landscaping jobs including the complete re-design of our front yard.
The young man knows volumes more about old homes than anyone I have worked with in the last 35 years. My profession is as an art restorer and I insist on high quality workmanship. In every instance Ben has exceeded my expectations in this area. He is the most thorough, conscientious, knowledgeable and skilled home renovator that I have ever dealt with and I have lived in this old house for over three decades.
In the time I've known Ben, has he missed a couple of deadlines? Sure he has. He is in high demand and never walks away from a job until it is complete, but to refer to him as a crook and accuse him of fraud is just plain wrong. That's not the Ben Sappington that I (and many of my friends and colleagues) know. Those comments say a lot more about the complainer than they do Ben. He is not aware that I have written this response and in no way did he solicit it.

BBB complaint & Ripoff report gets Sappington to pay!!

Filed a complaint with the BBB. They contacted Mr. Sappington & he sent me a money order for the funds owed.
He claims that he sent me numerous cashiers checks that I refused to cash???? Just happy to finally get my money refunded. I thank the Ripoff report & the BBB for providing a way to expose dishonest contractors.
