I was contacted via phone and mail by SAR & Associates, claiming they were attempting to collect a debt. They went through their collection script rambling off my personal information they received from a cash advance loan application I completed online June 2012. The rep stated a company named LTS Management deposited $400.00, into my bank account which was never paid back. I recalled completing a general online application that reports back cash advance companies willing to offer you a short term loan. Once I read the extremely high finance charge I decided not to continue with the loan process. I explained to the rep I never received any money and I could provide proof nothing was deposited into my personal account. She then went on to state this account has been passed on to multiple collection companies and now they have the account in their office. The amount owed now is $1450.00, since June 21, 2012. They would be willing to settle the account for $450.00, to keep it from reporting to the three credit bureaus. At this point I knew this was a scam because not only did I know I never took out the cash advance, but I was never contacted by these so called other collection agencies the passed three years in regards to this account. When I insisted on not being aware of this account, their rep got very rude with me and said "when you're ready to take this account seriously call us back", and then hung up on me. I never heard of LTS Management, nor believe they are in business. SAR & Associates didn't have a web address listed on the letter they sent me, and I couldn't find any information online that matched their name and physical address. They've called me from five different phone numbers. Three toll free and two local phone numbers. When they contacted me a second time over the phone I asked the rep whose database did they hack to obtain my personal information. I told him I work in I.T. and the company I work for are currently conducting security inspections for major corporations to prevent people like them stealing their customers personal information. When I told him that he hung up on me again. If anyone is contacted by SAR & Associates please do not give them any of your personal information and definitely don't pay them any money. My next step is to report them to the FBI in Detroit.
