On 4/30/2008 my AKC mini black schnauzer was re-homed into the home of Sara May. She did not yet have legal ownership of the dog. She had no legal rights to sell the dog before she received full ownership, and as such sold MY property for HER profit. I still have her AKC papers.

Makensie is a beautiful retired breeder who will be 5 years old this Sept. Makensie is a alpha dog and needed to be placed in a home where she could be the only queen without competition. Being an older girl we knew it probably would be difficult to find the perfect home but we would do everything in our power. We were in no rush and wanted to take our time. She was spayed, given her rabies and updated shots on March 22, 2008. I then placed an ad on Petfinder and had several responses. Amy and her husband wrote first and were near by in Cedar Park. We talked and we both agreed to give it a try but didn't know how she would do with the small children. In the mean time Sara May also wrote very interested in meeting her. I told her if it didn't work out with Amy and her family that I would contact her.

Makensie stayed with Amy and her family for almost 2 weeks and Makensie started becoming very protective of her and snapped at her very small son. She called me and we both knew that beyond our control, we had to try to find her a new home.

I emailed Sara May and explained the situation and asked her questions about her experience with schnauzers. She assured me that her husband used to breed them and she was a groomer. She loved the breed and already had one there at home. I was concerned about her being alpha if she would get along with him or not. I gave her Amy's phone number and those two set up a time to meet. I was a bit surprise that she wanted to meet that same evening and was very excited to get her so soon. Amy drove and met her half way. Amy and her daughter left in tears.

The next I got an email from Sara telling how well Makensie did and that her friend looked at her and wanted to start training her for show. Being such a beautiful dog, I told her I would not turn over her AKC papers until I knew for sure that somebody would not try to make money off of her. I didn't want a re-homing fee because it was more important for it to be used on her next vet visit to purchase Heartguard and Frontline Plus. So she was placed without charge and it was understood that if it didn't work out she was to be returned to me. I have tried emailing and calling Sara to check on Makensie but I get no response.

Yesterday on 5/13/08 I come home and have a message on my answering machine from a women named Candy Lind telling me she has a dog that was once mine that she wanted more info on. She bought her off of Sara May on craigslist for $200.00. Sara left her rabies tag on her and Candy was able to track me down from my vet.

Candy feels that Makensie has been abused because of her issues she now has. She is scared to death of her husband and they are working with her on these. She is looking into training for her now. She didn't even come with the shot records, her leather collar or her blanket that I had with her. She took those too.

Since, Amy, Candy and I have discovered more ads by her on the internet for the sale of dogs on petfinder.com and 2ndhandpets.com. We feel that she is making a business out of this. She had no right to take a dog that was still my property and sell it for profit. I am very happy with the home Makensie is in but I want the $200 returned to Candy for the dog and I want no other dogs to be abused like Makensie. I want to put a stop to her illegal dog flipping.

I do feel badly that you placed your schnauzer in a poorly chosen home. I realize you can't always prevent bad things from happening. I do wonder about anyone who is a 'breeder' and does not realize that altered dogs cannot be shown (unless by a junior handler and only for juniors). Did you make her sign a contract stating if for any reason she could not keep the dog it would be returned to you? I hate to say it but by not protecting yourself you set yourself up to be taken advantage of. I am certainly NOT defending her actions but perhaps take this as a lesson learned. Get a signed contract from now on whenever you pass ownership of a dog on to someone else. Any reputable breeder does this.

This lady sold myself 1 pomeranian puppy a month ago, it passed away the next. My husband was home on leave from Iraq and in turn bought me a chihuahua puppy before returning to Iraq, not knowing it was the same lady I had purchased the pom from. The next day we notice our puppy is so full of worms they are crawling out of her. She has since been very weak, and ill, she has slept most of the time, while shaking and terrified of people. She is also hypoglycemic, which is common in small dogs, but when I asked this backyard puppy mill/breeder, she had no idea what hypoglycemia even was! I have emailed her several times, nothing. I have also filed (as of yesterday) a police report against her, and spoke to the police man myself regarding her. He is doing an investigation (salado police dept) and also, is making sure all of the dogs are in good health and she has to have proof of vaccination, or she is in trouble. He also suggested that everyone who has had problems with this lady sue her. I had an ad about ehr posted on craigslist (Killeen, Austin, & Waco!) and had over 20 responses of people who have bought sick puppies from her.

My friend emailed Sara May after seeing her ad on 2ndhandpets.com today for a papillon: "no i dont have a papillon still. I didnt know he was still on there. Sorry. What kind of dog are you looking for? I have way too many and am looking to get rid of a few. I could get a shipping price for you. I have a male 4 yr old akc black pug. 2 male chihuahuas (not registered). a female 5 month old beagle (not registered) do any of those intrest you? WHAT AGE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? MALE OR FEMALE? ANY PARTICULAR THINGS?" Sara We would like a female that is fixed. "The only 2 I have fixed is a 1 yr old male min pin 10 lbs and a 4 yr old female chihuahua 5lbs. We were asking $150 for the min pin and $200 for the chihuahua. That will include their vet exam to fly them. If that is not what you are looking for let me know and I can look for you. You missed the perfect dog im sorry it was a female schnauzer." Sara She even has the nerve to mention my schnazuer she sold as being "a perfect" dog which she has already sold.
