Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We recently took our family to this horse back riding stables for birthday party. I feel the actions of the staff were negligent and possibly even criminal. The place advertises its good for beginning riders.

We took 8 children. They were given no instructions or helmets, just put on the horses. It was over cast and sprinkling rain but the staff raised no concerns. My mother even asked if the rain weather was an issue and was told no. When thunder clapped the horses went every which way at full gallop.

The kids were terrified. They had no idea how to stop the horses. One rider got thrown and had to be taken to the ER. I overheard one employee tell another they should not have taken that horse out because it was jumpy all day and even kicked an employee earlier that morning.

The manager refused to refund our $300, though we were on the horses for less than 15 minutes, and my sister-in-law had to go to the hospital. She has a black eye, a swollen nose, and honestly came close to getting trampled. When we asked for the owner's phone number the manager started crying, refused to give it to us, and said if she did she would be fired.

We looked up the owner, Les Ammons, wanting to contact him. But he hides behind his employees, giving out only the address and the phone number of the stables, where they are threatened with losing their jobs if they refund money or give out his personal contact information.

Seriously of course I'd like the money back but more than that this place is dangerous. My niece adores horses. Or did. This was her first experience with a real life horse and now she is terrified of them. Somebody has to put a stop to these people and make them accountable. I realize horses are animals and unpredictable but there is also a responsibility on places like this to behave responsibly and Sea Horse Stables did not.

The staff told us nothing like this ever happened. But a little googling showed this not to be true either. Someone was just recently thrown before our trip. This place needs shut down before someone is permanently maimed or killed.

Incidentally the place only accepts cash, so again shame on me for not thinking this odd in this day and age. I foolishly imagined this to be maybe a family business or something but it turns out the owner is out of state.

The owner of the stables has reached out to us. We are meeting with her later. Hopefully things can be made right and better saftey procedures can be implemented for future visitors.
