As someone that has just done business with SealMaxx, I can attest to the fact that their "warranty" is a complete waste of paper. My story: I signed the contract to seal my deck and a couple of fences aware that I had three days to cancel if I cared to. I asked for a copy of the 25-year guarantee and was told by the salesman that he didn't have one, but would get it to me.

After I had to dog the salesman to get a copy, I was told it would be faxed to me. It wasn't. The waiting game worked, and the 3-day "buyer's remorse" period expired with the contract intact (I had qualms, but the company was endorsed by a respected local home-improvement contractor so I took a leap of faith...bad on me, I admit).

When the project was eventually completed (a month behind schedule, I'll point out), I finally received a copy of SealMaxx's warranty in the mail. To call this farce of a document a "warranty" is an insult to true warranties, not to mention farces.

In a nutshell, SealMaxx guarantees precisely nothing. It only says it promises that the product will perform in accordance with representations made previously to me in writing by SealMaxx. Since nothing had been represented to me in writing but the agreement to do the job at the stated price, I have a warranty that covers nothing.

But that's not all bad, because even if there had been performance guarantees made in writing, if it failed at its task(s) all I would have a right to would be a re-application of the same product that didn't work the first time. My deck and fence could rot away to nothing and SealMaxx wouldn't be liable for a red cent.

I feel stupid that I didn't cancel the contract when the salesman was so evasive about the warranty. I'll never trust another word the endorsing contractor.

I do not feel that SealMaxx should enjoy any sort of reputation in the home remodeling field.

Had enough

I've been to the site. I know what's there and, more importantly, was is not. Click on the "25 Year Gurantee" graphic and you get...a before/after picture of a deck. Not the verbiage of the 'guarantee', as one would reasonably expect, but a picture of a deck. The warranty - printed by SealMaxx corporate, states that only performance guarantees that had been *previously* represented in writing will be honored by SealMaxx. Naturally, you have no performace guarantee in writing from the salesman. Your warranty, therefore, covers precisely nothing. Not that you're missing out on something spectacular, mind you. The warranty states that even if something is actually covered, the extent of the risk exposure to SealMaxx is re-application of the product. In other words, if SM sprayed distilled water on a deck, when it collapses into a pile of dessicated splinters two years from now, they'll be delighted to come spray distilled water on the new deck. Fool me once, shame on you... I appreciate your concern. I truly do. But I see the way SealMaxx operates and can't help but think that they have sculpted their business model to stay just this side of being legally actionable. In the finally tally, it's your fault for not cancelling the contract when SealMaxx failed to produce a copy of its warranty, despite several attempts to acquire it. That doesn't make the company one iota less sleazy, however, a point you should intend to drive home for anyone who will listen

Dave, In a way it's funny.. Sealmaxx can't EVEN SPELL , let alone produce one within the 3 day recision period. This homeowner feels duped, and you pretend not to understand his feelings or thoughts. Evidently, he was able to understand yours!!! You pulled a fast one!!!!!!! Ralph

You just had your job done and you only speak of a warantee? Odd you would have a job done say nothing about the work or quality and post this only about a warantee. You let me know if you have issues with your deck, we will take care of you. Customer Service
