I have been a Sears customer for over forty years and have gone through the local credit system to Discover Card, and finally to the Sears MasterCard. I have never had anything but excellent credit reporting. I attempted to make a charge on my Sears card which I had not used for about a year. I was told the account was "frozen".

I called to inquire and was told the accout had been closed from not being used. I explained that the card showed two more years until expiration. The attendant was very rude and told me thre was nothing he could do to activate the account. I asked for a supervisor and was told again there was nothing that could be done. I explained that I needed an exception since I was ordering some urgently needed items in Canada for my dental office and the Canadian firm only accepted Mastercard. Sears credit told me they could not issue instant credit due to the new U.S. terrorism act.

I called Sears in Chicago to follow up on my complaint and was transfered beck to the California Sears Credit to again get the same treatment. I obtained a copy of my credit report. The report listed my Sears credit card account as current and open and had been reported as such the prevuios month. The report also showed Sears Credit as having checked my credit with that agency two months earlier. I do not have a problem with any credit card company canceling credit, that is their choice. I do have a problem with them telling me the card has been revoked for a year, and yet they continue to check my personal credit, and report the card as an open account.

To date, I have never received any notice by mail of their intention to decline credit. It is sad to me to see the retail giant of my youth continue to decline in the business world. What ever happened to the great customer service that made them so great?

inform them that information is incorrect

Here is a suggestion for the previous post about Sears credit card. If they are checking your credit and reporting to the credit agencies that your card is open and active, then you should have the right to contact the credit agency, whether it be TransUnion or one of the other two, and inform them that information is incorrect. I believe you have so many days or what not after receiving your credit report that you can dispute false information on your report, and have that fixed. Give that a try for starters, since apparently Sears has no interest in helping you. It is a shame that customer service is lacking in today's society with numerous companies.
