SEARS HIRED ME IN OCT.8TH 1991 AS A TV TECH. IN 1992 THEY WANTED ME TOO WORK ON APPLIANCES. NEVER GOT ANY TRAINING EXCEPT HOME STUDY COURSE AND UPDATE CLASSES.

WORKED ON GAS APPLIANCES FOR SEARS WITH NO TRAINING. LOTS OF CUSTOMER LIVES WERE PUT IN DANGER. I COMPLAIN TO OUR BOSSES, NO RESULTS, KENMORE, WHIRLPOOL DRYERS WITH LINT SCREEN INSIDE DOORS,IF NOT KEPT CLEANED OUT OF LINT CAN AND WILL CATCH FIRE.

MANY SEARS CUSTOMER HAVE HAD THESE DRYERS CATCH FIRED, NOTHING IS BEING DONE FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION,SINCE I COMPLAIN ABOUT NO BEING TRAINED SEARS TERMINATED ME 04-08-2004 THEY SAID FOR A MISDEAMEANOR ASSAULT RECORD I HAD IN 1988 WITH MY EX WIFE WHO I WAS MARRIED TOO TILL 2001. ALSO GOT CUSTODY OF OUR DAUGHTER AT DIVORCE TIME. SEARS FIRED ME TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT TO REPORTERS, I TRIED TO GIVE MY STORY TO THE NETWORKS, BUT THEY SAID THEIR BOSSES WOULD NOT LET ME GO ON THE AIR, BECAUSE I WAS A DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE.

WHAT GETS ME SEARS FIRED ME FOR A 16 YEARS AGO OFFENSE, BUT I HAVE NEVER THREATENED OR HURT ANY CUSTOMER IN THE ENTIRE TIME I WORKED FOR THEM. THEY SHUT ME UP THATS WHY THEY DID IT.

#2Author of original report

Sun, August 15, 2004

LET ME CLARIFY THE ISSUE ABOUT DRYER FIRE HAZARD,SEARS SELLS A DRYER,29 INCH DOT WHIRLPOOL DRYER,ALSO SOLD WITH SEARS NAME KENMORE ON IT,THIS DRYER HAS 2 DEFECTS IN THE LINT AREA,THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE LINT FILTER HOLDER ASSEMBLY,THE SEAL THERE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PREVENT WHILE DRYER IS RUNNING ,LINT PIECE BY PIECE GETS INTO LOWER HALF OF THE DRYERS,ALSO THE PIPE MISSING A PIECE OF TAPE BETWEEN THE UNION FROM THE BLOWER HOUSING AND THE EXIT PIPE,THIS IS NOT A ISSUE ABOUT CUSTOMER CLEANING LINT SCREENS EACH LOAD,THAT DOESNT MATTERON THESE MODEL DRYERS,THIS DRYER IS THE ONLY WHIRLPOOL DRYER WITH A LINT SCREEN IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR OPENING THAT CLEARLY STATES CLEAN EACH LOAD,WHIRLPOOL BUILDS THIS DRYER FOR SEARS WITH THE KENMORE NAME ON IT,THESE DRYERS CATCH ON FIRE INSIDE BECAUSE OF THE LINT NOT BEING SEALED AGAINST OPENING IN THE INTERNAL DESIGN OF THE DRYER,I WENT TO MANY SEARS CUSTOMER HOUSES AND THEY SAW WHERE THEIR DRYERS CAUGHT ON FIRE,ALSO MOTORS BURNT UP BECAUSE LINT GETTING INTO AREAS OF THE DRYER WHERE IT ISNT SUPPOSE TO GET,THID HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CUSTOMER CLEANING LINT SCREENS,I REPIRED THESE DRYERS FOR 13 YEARS FOR SEARS,ITS A DEFECT WITH THE DRYERS ,ALL THE TECHS I DID WORK WITH KNEW THIS,WE ALL HAD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THESE ISSUES,BUT IT WAS A CORPORATE HUSH-HUSH SITUATION.THANKS FOR THE REBUTTALS,THESE ARE THE FACTS

I never thought of that!

That's right, you are only supposed to report felonies. You dont have to report misdemeanors. I agree that you should hire an attorney and go after them. If they are firing employees for any reason they can find, that will all be brought up in the court hearing. It should anyway, if the attorney/lawyer you hire is a good one! I still stand on what I said about the dryers catching fire though. I have an electric dryer {not from Sears}, but in my owners manual it even says to keep the lint filters cleaned or it could cause a fire. I think as long as it is printed in the owners manual the company/manufacturer isnt responsible. Good Luck!

Get A Lawyer... I have seen many employees wrongfully terminated by Sears, someone needs to stand up to them

If you were fired because of a misdemeanor that many years ago (before your employment) you have a very good reason to bring them to court. When you fill out the application for work there you are only asked if you've ever comitted a felony and thats it. You do not have to report any misdemeanors in your application, therefore you did not state any information that was not true on your application. Sears cannot fire you for lieing on your application or not revealing that, it is not asked for. They also are supposed to do investigations on their employees before they are hired, not after. Sure, they were looking for any reason to fire you and they can use just about any excuse they want, and they do!!! There reason will have to stand up in court though if you decide to seek legal help, which I doubt it would. I have seen many employees wrongfully terminated by Sears, someone needs to stand up to them--hope its you!!! GO GET EM!!!

#5Consumer Comment

If you understood that you were working for a company without being properly licensed/insured/bonded, why did you work for the company for so long? Especially with anything that has to do with gas. There are state laws & regulations that MUST be followed & you have to be licensed to make any repairs to anything involving gas. If it is true that you were fired for a misdemeanor offense that happened before you were hired, maybe you have some legal avenues you should consider. Most companies will do a background check on people they are considering hiring. I would almost guarantee if they were sending you into peoples homes for repairs, a background check was done. My reasoning for thinking this way is the fact that the company would be held liable if you hurt or attempted to hurt anyone while on the job. Maybe I am wrong, but a responsible company would do background checks. The consumer is responsible to clean their own lint screens, they cant have a technician standing at their home while they do laundry. That is not the responsibility of Sears. As long as it is printed in the OWNERS MANUAL that comes along with a new gas dryer.
