I purchased a "top of the line" vacuum cleaner from Sears for my wife for Christmas 2002. Almost exactly 12 months to the day this piece of junk quit working. I met with the guy at Sears who sold it to me, his name is "Mr. Vacuum Cleaner". I explained my problem to Mr. Vacuum and he stated that it sounds like a faulty piece in the handle of the machine, he looked at it and decided that it wasn't the problem.

Mr. Vacuum suggested that I take it to the repair office located in the store. I waited at the repair office for Mr. Vacuums repair man, after about 20 minutes another Sears employee came out and said the repairman was not there. I asked Mr. Vacuum why this expensive machine lasted lees than 1 year, he said that they had some problems with switches in the machine, since he didn't think the switch was the problem I could order a replacement part for up to $150.00, I left.

During the next week I returned to the store to track down Mr. Vacuum repairman, the head of my machine was taken into the back of the store, 20 minutes later who should arrive, why it was Mr Vacuum himself, he said that Sears could not fix the machine and since I hadn't purchased the extended warranty they could do nothing. I took this machine to a repair shop, for $15.00 I got it repaired but only temporarily, seems Sears uses skimpy plastic parts in important places. The head has been temmporarily fixed, two weeks ago the machine began smoking from the vacuum head and now doesn't work at all, the belt is fine. I

will never ever purchase another thing from Sears and can only hope that they will go the way of K-Mart. SEARS you will never rip me off again !!!!!!!

It's not Sears' Fault

Sorry to hear about your situtation but..... I realize that when you spend a lot of money for an item, it should hold up to the value that you paid. Sad, but it doesn't usually work that way. When you buy merchandise like this & for the money you spent, it would have been wise to buy the extended warranty. Because you never know. Also, Sears doesn't make the merchandise they sell. Except for Craftsman (guaranteed for life). Bissell, Maytag, GE & etc. are not manufactured by Sears. Sears buys merchandise from various manufacturers at wholesale and then resells them at their department stores. So, if it has cheap, plastic parts is not Sears' fault. Do the sales people need a lesson on customer service & how to not try to cheat people out of money, just to make an extra buck?? Sure!! If it makes you feel better...I purchased a brand name vacuum from QVC; It worked less than a year also.
