I'm so disappointed. I picked out a ring on the Sears.com website. It was on sale so I told my husband that is what I wanted for Christmas. It was the first of November so I thought that was plenty of notice.

I did receive the beautiful ring but less than a month after receiving it from my husband (still is less than a month) one of the stones is missing. We went to the "local" sears store and both "managers" admitted that unless a "Protection Plan" is purchased Sears does not stand behind the products they sell. I asked them several times if I was understanding them correctly. Yes, that is what they said.

Monday I called the phone number on the paperwork that came with the ring. First I spoke to a gentleman that told me to go into a Sears and buy the protection plan and they would fix it. Really? Then he gave me a phone number to call which is the department that deals with jewelry (800-326-1377). That phone number had a recording saying they couldn't retrieve a message because that number didn't have a mailbox. I called the original number (800-349-4358) back a spoke to a very nice lady named Mary. After talking for awhile she told me the 30 day warranty would still be good because of the extension due to Christmas but the 30 days would be over on Friday the 24th.

Monday after work my husband and I drove 45 miles to a different Sears to return the ring. Of course when we get there the lady at the jewelry department tells me the 30 day warranty does not apply to fine jewelry. So now I have a ring that is missing a stone that I will have to take to a local jeweler in order to get it repaired.

The ring was on sale for $1331.99 plus tax but was originally $3,699.99. What we thought was a great deal ended up being a great disappointment. To top it off my husband didn't want me to know he bought it so I didn't get my SYWR points.

We've always bought a lot at Sears and even K-Mart and it bothers me that Sears employees will tell you that Sears won't stand behind the products they sell and there's another employee that wants me to be dishonest and go into a Sears store and buy the protection plan so they will fix it (although the woman at the store we went to tonight told me you only have 14 days to obtain that). The only person that appeared helpful was "Mary" but even the information she gave me was incorrect.

I know they sell great tools and stand behind them but it shouldn't be and different than any other product they sell. I would not recommend their jewelry to anyone. The amount of money you would spend on a piece of their "Fine Jewelry" should include thier "Protection Plan".
